I applaud the generally excellent job all admins and mods do in all cases where they execute tempered and moderate jurisprudence. KA did not need to lift any ban at all and he chose to after a careful and thoughtful evaluation of circumstances.

I find it funny for several reasons, although I still fail to see why someone like me who did not ban the user and only provided information to the public (where I was allowed to) should apologize. I remember when these forums used to be fun. What the hell has happened? Now all I read about is who was banned. t-o-m was/is an okay guy. He was always pleasant in the foundry (back when he could post). He added a lot to the site, as far as feedback to the cartographers, and even got a map made of his own. Glad to see he's at at least allowed back in chat.

After reading about it more..

When I was completely banned, tied up, dead and dumb, I saw that I could not buy premium back. Now that KA claims to have 'restored' my account, I cannot join games - but it says that I can do so if I buy premium. I now see that KA's changes allow me to buy premium - I doubt that's his intention, but still.
If they think I'm re-buying premium because they fucked up they've got another thing coming.

I have been on this site for a little over 2 years now, and though I do not post often, I still read the majority of threads. From what I have seen and heard, this site has been going down a slippery slope for the last year or so. The level of professionalism from the moderators is deplorable, and though I do not have intimate contact with any and can only judge from what they post and others say, I believe that there needs to be a mass clean-up of conduct here. There is no reason a mod should be posting flame bait, that in and of itself should put said mod on probation. The fact that all of this is possible makes it seem we all live in a totalitarian state, and the only light of freedom is ignore the forums, or shut up and let the mods run the place like a gestapo. I frankly am outraged that certain current events have taken place, while others are allowed to continue with their inappropriate conduct. The overall feel of the forums is getting gloomier by the day and if something is not done soon, it may crash into a sea of its own mistakes, faults, and inconsistencies.

I served some time in G-2 in the military, and my CO said something to me once that summed it all up - he said that if i wanted to "become successful" in the intelligence field i needed to understand that our national security had more to do with keeping the public in the dark than keeping secrets from the enemy.

You guys want to have absolute power, fine. It's your site. But this is a business genius, and when you frivolously ban your clientelle and then flip your finger at the survivors who question you about it, that's a dumbass, chickenshit way to do business.

If your rules are fair, make punishment public as it is in your government. If it's not publicized, that makes it pretty obvious that the rules are in fact not fair. More and more people around here are getting fed up with your Gestapo tactics.
