Clan League Season 2

Post by jpcloet »

For the clans NOT in the Season 1 League, which clans are interested in joining in for Season 2?
(Dates, Settings, etc. all yet to be determined) Aiming for Mid-to-late Sept 2009.

Likely changes are: Adding Trips and Quads, Playoffs, 2 Divisions no cross-overs, longer schedule but with more bye-weeks, series games split home and away during the week.

Here is the link to Season 1 settings: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 93&start=0

I'm sure Generation One is interested though our leader Bones2484 will have to confirm it :)

I will be confirming all participants once we get closer. I was assuming most clans, if not all, from Season 1 would be back. Will need to plan this out proper as we might be going from 15 clans to close to 30. Marval will be helping execute Season 2.

Since it's still "likely changes", I'd like to express my personal opinion:

I like the doubles format of the clan league and would not vote for adding trips and quads.

Likely changes are:
Adding Trips and Quads
I would like to see Trips and Quads in, and possibly singles as well. Doubles is a great format, but it doesn't so much measure best clans, as much as best doubles clans. Perhaps there could be some sort of option where, each home week, when sending out the games, a clan has to include 1 Doubles, 1 Triples, and 1 Quads minimum, the other 7 games are the choice of the clan.
Playoffs
Playoffs are nice, but I'm not sure I'd be happy playing a 20-30 round season only to lose the championship at the end. Still, I know playoffs are a part of a fair few leagues, so I can see the fors and against of it.
2 Divisions no cross-overs
Is there enough for 3 divisions? The reason I ask is that, the more divisions, the less games per season, more promotions/relegations, and therefore a much more dynamic league.
Longer schedule but with more bye-weeks
I'd much prefer a shorter schedule with less opponents. I really enjoy that you're setting all this up, but the scheduling in the first season was not only hectic, but also imbalanced, in that some clans got easier runs than others.
Series games split home and away during the week
Sounds like a good idea, makes sense

And singles are an absolutely incredible way to measure the best clans.

we are still trying to finish season 1 jp, and this will likely finish up in august, perhaps consider waiting a few months, I suggest aim for Jan. 2010 or Dec. 2009, one big clan league per year.

It seems the best time to run this is Sept-April along the school year it seems. The last few weeks got into the summer and you could see all clans slow down.

many are on vacation and not sure we will be in this if it is in sept, I need a break and I know others do as well, although I agree with you on if you run it nov. to may (around that area) much better than summer.

Agreed, the seasons are a little tight together. Still looking at options and setups for a transition. It would be one thing if we were just adding a few new clans, but we may be looking at a massive expansion. This may have to be a transition year to move closer to what the league will hopefully be able to repeat year on year.

Blitz is just getting old ... I don't have a problem with the Sept schedule. A month off for spring training, regrouping, finding effective pairings and teams and plowing again. This is one of the highlights of CC, in my opinion and it gets more people involved. I say let it fly in Sept.

I somewhat agree. The league is the main reason I'm still playing here.

BUT, I also agree with Blitz, we need time to get the season 2 rules down pat with everyone generally agreeing on the setup, and a small break would be nice. This season has been strenuous on clan organisers, and I probably speak for a fair few people when I say that a repeat of that level of activity would be exhausting.

could we extend the season somehow to be a set of games every 2 weeks instead of one a week? might make it easier on some of the smaller clans esp if we are adding trips and quads to the mix
and I agree we need to get the rules straight
One of the things I find most annoying is getting a set of games 2 weeks late. I think just like in tournaments there should be a time limit of how long a clan has to send out home games and how long the opposing one has to join after that
Would make things run a lot smoother I think

Clarifying the rules around defaults would help some. I found that almost all clans were late creating games at some point and every other week would be nice. This is going to a big scheduling task. I'm waiting to hopefully hear back from Admin on several proposals which would help with this and clarifying the process.

Our clan will be ready for Season 2, we are in the process of team training now. Count Revolution X as in. We would like to see dubs, trips and quad games included.
