That one tulip is one of the rules.
There is also the rule that in case your team has won, but you didn't stay in the game until the end you have to give 2 tulips to both your teammates. So in that case you start with 17 tulips for winning, but have to give one to the end killer and two to both team-mates, so you would end with 17-1-2-2=12 tulips. In case there was another teammate in your team that didn't stay in the game until the end that other teammate has to give you two tulips as well and you would finish with 14, the same as that teammate. And the last man (or woman) standing gets 17+1+1+2+2=23 tulips.
And then we have the rule that officially is there to make it easy for me: in stead of checking who still is in the game I will check the amount of spoils people have at the end. In case you were eliminated you will have zero spoils, so in case you have zero spoils at the end I simply assume that you were eliminated.
To show that I have a bit of a twisted mind I did put in a few games with "no spoils" setting
