Unlikely, that post is 3 days old, if they were going to take exception to it then the Mods would have banned him there and then on the same day.

Not necessarily. If he did something more recently that pissed off a mod/admin, or made them look foolish, they could very well have gone back through his post history to find the most recent one that they might be able to punish him for.

I read most of the posts in GD, sugs and bugs and cheating and abuse and haven't seen anything to warrant a ban from him.

However, he has been fairly vocal in his criticism of the admins so I'd guess they found something fairly innocuous (the post mentioned might well be it) and banned him for that.

It is terrribly sad to watch intellectual inferiors attempt to joust with their betters, realise they are getting spanked, and so decide to close down the debate through censorship. Like many others I can barely be bothered to even try, other than to every couple of days assert that it is all an ultra-religious conspiracy to presecute the liberal minded in CC Land . And I only do that because I know it must piss them off...just a little.

I think it was more than one flame, ronc made a flame in the cheating and abuse thread and also flamed me in his other thread... That and he also has a history of making flames out of flame wars, I do not have the time to count them all but I think it would be misleading to say ronc made one flame and instantly received a 30 day ban. In fact I thought he had already received a 30 day for his racism towards owenshooter so shouldn't he be on a perma now?!

You seem far too comfortable about another poster having their forum rights (+ pming ability, viewing profiles...) taken away on the whim of an admin with effectively no recourse.

I would say, as a pretty good rule of thumb, if neither I, nor you, nor anyone else in this thread has any idea what Ron is supposed to have done to get a 30 day ban, then he probably didn't do anything to deserve it. I think we'd know if he'd done something REALLY BAD right?

In my view it is a complete nonesense to ban a paying customer of this site for 30 days when he has obviously not done anything (at least recently) to deserve such a harsh punishment. It is frankly not good enough for you to write (effectively) that 'we have this system so he got a 30 day ban' unless you are prepared to state that you are in complete agreement with the current escalating system.

You can play around with my words as much as you want and no I don't agree with the escalating system. In fact I am pretty anti the whole escalating banning system and have made many posts evidencing this if you wish to search hard my 6000 posts here, I'm sure you will find plenty where I make my feelings quite clear. I however believe that the character in question here is not just your average witty poster like Dancing Mustard, who's ban was a complete travesty but he is more similar to Norse, who frankly deserved to be banned considering some of the stuff he used to write in the forums. Ronc has had many warnings.. and has done many things, I can't give you a list of all the things he has done but I do know some of his history and it isn't pleasant. Paying customer or not, if bans were not given out on occasion there would be anarchy. I know you're angry but so am I. We're no strangers to love, you know the rules and so do I. A full commitment's what I'm thinking of. You wouldn't get this from any other guy. I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling. Gotta make you understand. We've known each other for so long. Careful now, no rehashing the past, he's made a promise not to cross that particular red line ever again and he is sticking to it. Two words for you: Personal Bias

I will not contest the existence of his anger issues or the lack of a filter between his brain and his fingers. However, Ron does have his lucid moments when he can gather his will to focus past the red haze obscuring his vision.
