Let me guess, your saying if the British and French hadn't of declared war on Germany after it invaded Poland in September 1939 WWII never would have happened? Your using the logic that says, why did they declare war on Germany to aid Polan, but failed to aid the Polish in the defense of their homeland. So because they didn't aid Poland it is their fault that nearly 60 million people died over the next six years?

If that is what your going at, your mind is warped. But do I have a question for you, do you think Germany would have stopped expanding after they got Danzig?

It's called being diplomatic to work toward your own ends.

Hitler knew that neither France, England, nor Russia would stand for his invasion of Poland, so he worked out a compromise with Russia to reduce one front, intending to come back later for the entirety of Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe after dealing with France and England.

Unfortunately, the English got lucky a few times too many, so Hitler, presumably in one of his manic states, decided, with France gone and a decent defense on the Atlantic, that the Western Front was gone and that he could go up against Russia, so he did, but only after Mussolini dragged him into Africa, forcing him to wait until the winter to invade Russia, which, like Napoleon, proved to be his downfall.


In any case, he should've gone for the oil fields of the Middle East before entering Russia. They would've been easier to take and would've provided him with more than enough oil to further his war machine.

There was always going to be a war between Austro-Hungary and Serbia. Franz Ferdinands assasination just made it happen quicker. If Russia hadnt of stood behind Serbia it would have stayed a 'localised' war.

The argument could be made the the treaty of Versailles after the 1st world war, forced germany into a position where they had to fight or be a 3rd rate nation. The punitive actions of the allies contributed to the german peoples willingness to go to war.

Anyways, I would like to argue that Hitler did in fact start WWII. The British and French had already stated their commitment to Polish Independence, yet Hitler still went ahead with Fall Weiss. Later on, Hitler decided Operation Barbarossa was a good idea and attacked the Soviets. I fail to see how WWII was not Hitler's fault. It is not as if the Germans had a dire need for Lebensraum, and they had already revitalized the economy and abandoned the Treaty of Versailles, without any international consequence. I don't really see WWII happening without Hitler's aggressive foreign policy.

Edit: Gavrilo Princip being responsible for WWII was only a joke, although one could claim he was by saying that he caused WWI --> Versailles --> Impoverished Germany --> Radical Ideology --> National Socialists in Reichstag --> WWII.)
