well i dont know where you live, But I beleive the shovel ready programs dont start until feb 2010 because the money hasn't been provided yet. I would be interested to see your source on that. I have seen a LOT of bridgework around here, being from saint paul i was here when the bridge collapsed. Did anyone know it had nothing to do with gov't inspectors missing it or anything like that. the contractors that were working on the bridge at the time set a huge super heavy/super dense stack in 1 spot that the bridge was never expected to handle. Either way your 2 points on raods and bridges, what I am hearing in my "bubble talk" that the gov't is just moving money around, robbing peter and paul to pay peter, with jobs that dont have lastability value. when the job is over, your friend will be unemployed again, no?pimpdave wrote:Here are three off the top of my head:
The shovel ready infrastructure projects have made great improvements in road quality, at least near where I live. This makes driving safer and more efficient.
Increased spending on maintenance of the infrastructure has also led to more bridge inspections, which has helped a friend of mine get a job, who was laid off late last year. So personally, I don't have to feel guilty about asking him to pay up for gas money or beer money when he hangs out, but on a more general level, I feel safer knowing that the government actually gives a flying fart about the infrastructure and integrity of our bridges (remember how under W, that bridge collapsed in the midwest? remember Katrina? I have confidence our current president will not repeat such arrogant errors of neglect, based upon his already under-way initiatives).
The Cash-For-Clunkers program was a resounding success, to the point where there's a huge backlog of applications for the rebate (and unfortunately an awful lot of fraudulent applications)
I hope so, but I will grant him that accomplioshment when it happens. Didnt Carter get a nobel prize for "peace" over there? HAHA this issue, if Obama can do something, will not be measurable for years until after his presidency. Unless he works a miracleistanbul39 wrote:Just 1?
He has put more pressure on Israel to work a peace agreement with Palestine than any President in 20 years.
But, but, but Jimmy Carter was a disaster!istanbul39 wrote:fatscotty. Say what you like about Jimmy Carter, but Israel has been at peace with egypt now for over 2 decades. Is that not worth a Nobel Peace prize?
If that is your attempt at articulating an argument, you are grasping at straws...
hmmm, egypt provides no money for Palestine? no support? Carter get the prize for exclusivly Egyptian/Isreali peaceistanbul39 wrote:fatscotty. Say what you like about Jimmy Carter, but Israel has been at peace with egypt now for over 2 decades. Is that not worth a Nobel Peace prize?

I'ts not gonna work. He people, can we stop including things that are "in the process of" and "inbetween soundbites"? WE won't know the result of the guantanamo fiasco until early 2010PLAYER57832 wrote:He is working to close Guantanamo and has revised definitions of torture back to be consistant with US standards prior to Bush.
I hate Rush Limbuagh. Wow you are way off buddy LMAO. My point is you cant hold up part of the peace and say success, while the main objective for peace failed. Just correcting youistanbul39 wrote:Fat Scotty, please turn off Rush Limbaugh at least once a week. It will be healthy for you.
Yes, Egypt like many nations supplies aid to palestine. Whats your point?
And the Nobel Price was palestine/israel/and egypt. Israel has help up its agreements with Egypt but did not with Palestine.
... They got the votes (Dems) they need to pass whatever the hell they want. What are you talking about?pearljamrox2 wrote:yea, it's kinda hard to accomplish much when the douche bag republicans are fighting you the whole way. yes glen beck, obama wants to kill your grandmother
