Why do i think this? Because immediately prior to that i pressed andy repeatedly in 2 different threads to answer the embarrassing question "why can cheaters caught with multis buy their way back in and someone banned for 'flaming' cannot?" He of course never answered the question, and when i refused to let it drop i was given a 30 day ban for something that would otherwise have passed unnoticed.

The answer to your question is simple: you don't pay for the forum. Multis are kicked out of their games, so they get 1 chance to buy back in as their punishment. In the forums, there are multiple warnings and small vacations before a large one, and no money is paid to participate on the forums, so there's no reason to be allowed to pay in order to come back. In fact, I would contend that it would increase the number of complaints regarding bans because then the people would complain that the bans are being used to increase revenue (and we all know they would cry out). Really, it's not a hard concept to understand.

As far as you getting permabanned (the correct spelling), I guess you're in luck. Didn't the public convince Andy to drop the maximum discipline length for a minor infraction to 6 months?

Personally, I don't see why bk is acting so innocent and victim-like.
Although his "knotty" comment was not 30 day ban material, from what I have seen, he flames/trolls anybody who disagrees with him. He litters the forum with his bitching, and is keen to derail a topic as soon as he sees an opening where he can flame, troll, or simply be somewhat of a nuiscance...

Even if some of his flames are funny ( which I admit, most are) many are unneccesary, and neither add to the discussion norbenefit anybody but himself.

The smart, mature way to handle it ( although maybe less satisfying to those testosterone pumped "alpha" males) would have been to pm another mod and discuss it, and possibly bring lack and Andy in too, if they had the time.

You also could relieve your trolling desires on many other sites, that have less consequences, and possibly more angering effects, which I presume is your motive (pissing people off while you have a good laugh)

for example, facebook and myspace are great place to flame. Lots of people, nothing they can really take away. There are billions of forums out their for people like you... I bet you could find an entire forum dedicated to flaming, where they might ban you for being nice.

You know it's scary, but in the short lifespan i have left here i might get to actually like you. This is the second time you have stepped in and done the right (and i must say efficient) thing when andy would not. That is a well thought out and i must admit plausible answer - you must share it with andy (yeah i know, he already knew it - i don't believe you and i'm not alone). It's plausible enough that i can accept it. I still think it's wrong for andy to foist cheaters on us to make a few extra bucks, but i can see the logic in your argument insofar as why he doesn't have to do the same for flamers.

As much as i admire your stepping in, i despise andy's lack of respect for the membership here. There were a number of people who asked that question and not just "troublemakers" like me. I consider his lack of response to it to be uncivil and cowardly, and my outspokeness on that is why i made this thread.

I want the membership to see why i was really permabanned when it happens. Fitz talks about all the filthy flames i'm guilty of and i know i've been guilty of such, but since my 1 week banz i don't recall really, i mean really flaming anyone.
Maybe fitz could show me one? He maintains (amazing fitz has to speak for andy) that the banz was justified by "other" posts, i'd like to see one from the time period we're talking about. I know he has the computer skills as he made quite a collage of quotes for me once, which is why he is my favorite of the admin's boys.

Such is the human condition. Were you expecting the moderators to be part of a lineage that can be traced to King Arther's round table? They are just average people you occasionally get it right or wrong with slightly better than 50% accuracy.

But what is obviously going on here is just some good ol' fashioned attention seeking by people who likely don't get enough in the non-CC areas of their lives. They just need something to get into, like arts and crafts or something, maybe pottery.

Ok, now let me say something on topic. I'm going to try to be neutral here, which I think is where I am. On the one hand, whenever I've pm'd mods directly I've always gotten a response. The ones I know are usually friendly and seem to be nice people. On the other hand, this banning stuff is starting to bother me. I see threads everyday. 1 day bans, perma bans, and some of them 'appear' based on the little information that I have to be not befitting of the crime. I would like to see admin cut back a little with this, but then again that is not my decision to make, and I don't have all the information that they do.
