Yet another scoring system change suggestion....

Post by Jork »

I'll make this really short & sweet!

How about having three-way scoreboard reflecting the separate scoring-ranking catagories, i.e;

1) Total (as the scoring currently exists - including all modes of play)
2) Standard (Scoring and Ranking for single games only)
3) Team (Scoring and ranking for doubles & triples games only)

This way, for example, when you play a singles game your "Team" ranking wont be affected, only your "Standard" and "Total" ranking score would be. Or when you play a team game, your Standard score and rank would remain the same? Ultimate goal for some, then, might be to become a general in all 3 catagories.

Hope I explained this ok. Head isn't working real clear this am! lol

I've liked the idea of seperate scoreboards or mixed scoreboards like this for a while now.

It would be really nice to see who is the best in singles and who is the best in team games, because they are very different styles.

i think an average per games thing would b nice if it could b worked out.
a simple version is:

player's score -1000 divided by number of games played

problem with this is as u increase in rank then u get less points. perhaps a percentage of wins table would be good. so a major may be below a private who has just started and won 4/5 games.....

Do you, or does anyone know why that was rejected?? It just seems to make so much sense to me.....

Yes but that doesn't stop us to try to put it on the accepted to-do list. Plus a lot of people like this and since its not one of these ideas that would modify the site dramatically and does not modify the game style could be implemented.

The reason it was rejected was that it would e necessary to recalculate everything again and that would take to much (or this is how I remember it). I think that this wouldn't take to much and most would be happy even if that means 1 hour of downtime.

It could be considered again the future, but obviously lack has many more 'needed' upgrades and improvements in the works in the next few months. Perhaps once a few great major things come out, we can see if this is feasible.

Great idea....

The top of the leader board is dominated by people who play a lot of doubles and triples games. I am sure most play these types of games because they enjoy them, but i feel that it skews the scoreboard and only really shows who are the best team players on the site.

Having separate scoreboards for singles and team games would at the very least give people who mainly play singles a true gauge to where they ranked in comparison to others on the site.

I know, I know..........more important updates are being done first.........just don't forget to have a serious look at this one.

Thanks in Advance
