well basically, you are a citizen in whatever country you choose to live in.

From there, you can get a job in several fields, including food and weapons among others

If you want, you can go into politics and rise up the political chain

Or you can join the army and fight for your nations glory abroad.

eRepublik needs you.

Post by cthoenen1 »

First and foremost, eRepublik is not an alternative to CC. I play both games daily and they do not interfere with each other in the least.

eRepublik is a free, real-time online military/economic/political simulation game. Nearly every single aspect of the game is controlled by the players themselves, from political elections, military strategy and manpower, to business planning.

To be honest though, eRepublik is not for everyone, players really have to be interested in either economics, politics, or military (or any combination of those) to really enjoy the game. It's the kind of game that people think is absolutely brilliant, and love it, or they think it is ridiculously boring, and hate it. Personally, I love the game.

The first week of playing goes at a snails pace, as you can only work and train once per day... so after you find a job, work, and train (all of about 30 seconds worth of work) you are pretty much done for the day; all that there is left to do is read up on current events via player ran newspapers. As time goes on (about a week) you should be a high enough level to start assisting your eNation in wars, joining political parties, and becoming involved with the eCommunity.

For players wishing to start the game, I recommend that you do a little research before diving in. Many players chose to start off in their home state, only to find that it is currently occupied by the forces of eIndonesia, ePortugal, or eRussia. Over the last two years, in game aggressions by the eUS have caused a super alliance hell bent on the destruction of the United States.

If you want to start off in the eUS, it is important to start in New Jersey or Florida, as they are the American strongholds at the moment. New Jersey and Florida have the best hospitals which will eventually be important to your wellness as time goes on. Healthy citizens are more productive than sick ones. Patriotism aside though, I'd personally recommend that you start in a country other than the United States. With the war going on the eAmerican economy is in shambles and jobs are hard to find, and inflation makes the pay subpar. If you chose to start somewhere other than your home country, be advised that language could be an issue. eRussian newspapers are mostly in Russian. eCroatian newspaper are in Croatian, and so on. I recently moved to ePeru and there is a large expatriot community here, so most of the newspapers and politicking is bilingual. eUK, eAustralia, and eIreland are obviously English friendly, but some unexpected places are as well, such as eIndonesia (which just so happens to be one of the major superpowers in the eWorld at the moment.)

I'm getting kind of long-winded here, so I'll just ask that if you think you might be interested in a military/political/economic simulator, give eRepublik a try.

Bump.

Also, the eUS has turned the tides in the war and is starting to stabilize, but New Jersey is owned by Russia, so for players that want to be in the eUS, start in eFlorida.

Early on, it seems, not at all. Later on if you want to get involved in political parties and all that, it seems like it'll take more. But if you want to be an average joe who goes to war and does a little fighting, I don't think it takes much time out of your day.

Not gonna spam my link, but you should join the Socialist Freedom Party, once you get the chance. We have one of the better resistance forces against the Indonesian and Russian invaders (natch) it's got one of the more intelligent fora I've ever been on, and we give great support for when you're starting out. Check us out.

Thanks for posting this thread, this game is a lot of fun! I've been playing for about 3 weeks now and I think it's a great concept.

It takes up a lot less time than CC as long as you are not trying to lead or anything. If you train/eat/work/fight every day and stay up to dates on events it takes about 15-20 minutes. If you browse through the forums or try to learn more on their wiki then obviously you can spend much more time than that, but you certainly don't need to.

The reason people keep posting referral links is because they get gold if you join and get to a certain level on the site. This is a nice system though because it encourages people to bring their friends to the site and grow the community. I will say that the forums on eRepublik are pretty terrible but the game dynamics are a lot of fun. I'm going to throw my name in the hat in case anyone would prefer to support my account. I need the gooooold. :P

If you join through my link I will do my best to guide you through the game and help you to advance as quickly as possible. As you get stronger and fight more you do more damage with each fight, which helps to win the overall battle. The US still needs your help! Russians are everywhere and we must fight the red tide!!

If you like creating avatars and living an alternate life than that place is for you. Not much strategy. You get a job, level up, pay the website real money for fake money, buy stuff, train as a soldier, and then you "apply" for some battle and that's it.

It's like the SIMS, but with more people who you can't control.

There is no need to pay real money unless you are stupid and rich and want to give money for virtual fun. Only that kind of players pay for something thats free.
There is no strategy there? Sure... Tell that to 300 000 players who are all in one big fight these days. So called WW IV of New World.
There is more strategy there. playing with real people, then here where you can put 20 ,,soldiers,, in one place and loose all 20 in battle against one - just because of dice.
There, you cant find dice. Victory is achieved through good planning and team effort.

Well I wouldnt play here, if CC isnt great:) I like RISK as a game, but how can anyone tell that there is more strategy in chess *(for example) then in real battles? Similar thing is with in ERep and CC. CC is great and you need to think as a general, but YOU MUST AGREE that is MUCH HARDER to control REAL people and make them follow some plans then just numbers on board.
Anyway, I wont ,,beat up,, someone to join ERep. I wanted to share it with people who like strategy games. Its SOCIAL STRATEGY game. The ones who doesnt like it wont play it. Its just that simple.

There is a hell of a lot more strategy on CC than eRepublik, unless you happen to be the leader of an enation. Most members of eRepublik don't need to employ much strategy at all, and longevity on the site plays far too big of a role (if you didn't join over a year ago you don't have much hope of becoming a top soldier).

Despite that it's a very fun game. It doesn't take much time at all for a general citizen, and it is actually free. The forums over there are probably the worst I've ever experienced (part of the nature of being at war is that any forum conversation is a really shitty argument - much worse than the arguments in monkey business!)

I just have to laugh at this example, since Chess is perhaps the perfect strategy game. It's one of very few things in the world where there is no luck involved, only strategy. In real battles you may have more options for strategy, but there is also a lot more luck.

Anyway, you've made your point and done your advertising. There are several CC players who also play on eRepublik, and many others have already advertised to recruit new players and earn medals. I've had my referral in my signature for quite a while now ;)
