Is it just me or are the number colours hard to read?

I would like to know, is it my eyesight getting worse or could there be a better way of working out who owns what! I find the coloured numbers hard to read? I hate to say but some other sites that put the number inside a colour background make it far more user friendly! Why do you not do this?

If you use Firefox and can install Greasemonkey, then adding the BOB add-on allows you to reduce the opacity of the map (basically mix it with white), which usually improves the contrast of the troop numbers.
