Okay, wasn't perfect (Stalin f*cked it over) but it was a hell of a lot better then than it is now (with western ideals adopted - you know organised crime, poverty and unemployment). O, also, we would not be German if the US didn join the war, Europe would be Russian. The UK, Scandinavia and parts of western Europe would probably be capatilist. Operation Barborossa was Hitlers biggest mistake (after his moustache).

Firstly, Molacole, I am educating myself in history, I am doing a degree in it. We're having to do Nazism at the moment

dull as you like. People seem to forget the war was in mainland Europe, not on this little island. And I personally agree with flashleg, the allies needed that 2nd frontier, they also needed the enigma codes, the planning and preparation for the D day landings, they also needed American aid and also factors such as the French resistance. It was a war fought by allies, each contributing. It was not a 1 country war.

And also, with regard to the other point, I personally don't regard Stalin as a communist/socialist.

Ah, the cold war was never really a threat...as if both global powers were going to destroy each other. It was very convenient and beneficial for both parties to be in the cold war, but I don't think either party was that serious about it.

As for baby Hitlers, lets not forget who played a major role in putting Hitler into power in the first place. If Germany hadn't been so decimated and then sanctioned up the wah-zoo, crazy Hitler never would have gotten a country behind him.

you would have been german for atleast 10 years cause of the non-agression pact and the russians couldnt have taken on the germans without lend lease( same as the brits) so dont complain

Nothing Stalin did was as a socialist or communist...if you knew anything about it he derailed Trotsky who had a better grasp of the movement. Stalin was just the head of the secret police until Lenin died, then he grabbed control. His demise is characteristic of all dictators, the people loved him while he reigned but changed their opinion after they found where he had brought them to.
