I didn't really believe in the yankees because they are a team of mercenaries. Usually teams of mercenaries fall apart in the end.
the 1997 Florida Marlins are the only team of mercenaries to ever win the world series.

I guess the 2009 Yankees will be the 2nd.

Lidge and Hamels having bad seasons finally caught up to the Phillies. If both were pitching merely pitching "good" the Phillies would have won the series.

didnt like how the game ended
phillies gave all the momentum back to the yankees.

the phillies had to blow out the yankees in game 5 w/o any stress in order to win the last 2.

didnt happen.

yankees will blow the phillies out in game 6. and if the phillies somehow win game 6 they will have nothing left for game 7.
game 5 is the key game for a team to come back from a 3-1 deficit. and the phillies made it too shaky at the end

Hideki Matsui drives the Yankees past the Phillies
with 6 RBIs and is the first DH to win MVP.

So this means that Andy, Jeter, Jorge and Mo each have a fistful of rings. Unbelievable.

Also, what a way for Matsui to end his career with the Yankees. Such a class act. No doubt a first ballot Hall of Famer.

One of the games I went to this year, I sat in the same section as the people with the yellow Godzilla banner. BEST PEOPLE EVER.

Also, it's worth noting that the Phillies are one hell of a team. Charlie Manuel is a real stand up guy, and the first Phils manager to lead the team to two consecutive NLCS titles. It's impossible to dislike him.

Every single one of the games could have gone either way and although this didn't go 7 games as I hoped it would (just because I've enjoyed it so much), it was a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Lee, Utley, Werth and Feliz are all beasts. Definitely a World Series I'll never, ever forget.

I take solace in the firm belief that the Phillies (except for Chase Utley, Carlos Ruiz, and Cliff Lee) never played their best baseball through the entire series. I won't downplay the Yankees victory and I will congratulate all Yankees fans (except the fugazi Yankee fans, who also happen to like the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys). However, we'll see you guys next year because we'll be there.

Well, at least the Yankees found that missing man to being the best again. Good Ol' Benjamin.
