Some of the countries have their names WAY off center... Also, the plateau up in the top left of the map seems elongated and distorted... Loos like a cool map, though...

Would the brown spaces not be part of any continent?

really really big map... you'll need to figure out how to size it down.

I have a hard time getting excited about fantasy maps, especially when I don't even know what the book is. Think about something that will make the gameplay unique.

Here's a tip:
Raise the dpi to 600 and then resize it to fit the large mapwidth of 800px.
THEN start editing the map.
Trust me, this will save you time. You will have better control over the final look of things if you work with the 800px from the get-go.

right now the mountains in the south yellow are completely pointless to have. i suggest either extending them one direction or just omitting them completely.

I think that the Draals, the Forbidden Isle, and the no-continent territorries are all similar colors. Could you darken/lighten/change some?

the amry shade looks bad, the bridges are also bad, the country lines are not all the same size and you need to texture your map

Updates
-Changed Gyre color from yellowish to a light green
-Played with the borders to make them all uniform in size
-Another sample circle

wisse i haven't quite figured textures out yet on inkscape but i am thinking about how to improve the bridges currently

Its a bit complicated for textures. This is how i do it:
First find a sort of tiling texture, GRsiteshas good ones. Then import it into inkscape. I turn it into a pattern (Alt + I). I then copy the continent i want to apply the texture to and fill that continent with a texture. Then, i put a partially transparent coloured continent over the texture and voila. Thats how i do it. There might be a simpler way, but I havent found it.
