Okay, for the record, I'm allowed to pick on ANY LOCATION anywhere for the simple fact that I am from New Jersey. It's international law.

Our chief exports are Bon Jovi and Guidos. With all the disrespect I get on a daily basis (waaaaaay more than Rodney Dangerfield), I think the rest of the world can cut us some slack when we take them down a peg or two.

Moving on, we have Kurt Vonnegut, Ernest Hemingway, Paul Auster (a Jersey boy, even), Sinclair Lewis, and of course Edgar Allen Poe.
I didn't even think of OutKast. Good call.

I know I'm fighting a losing battle here, because the south has enough antiheroes to even things out (probably only very slightly more than the north), and because we have people like colton singing the praises of NASCAR, but I'm going to go ahead and claim Thomas Jefferson and call it quits.

Also, Deliverance was a good movie (closet Burt Reynolds fan?); the subject matter involved is not necessarily limited to the south. I would like to cite Ohio and their wonderful history (Dahmer, Harvey, recently Sowell, and how many others, not to mention their state universities...).

Odd... I always thought S. Dakota and N. Dakota were pretty much the same.

Also...Almost all of the US is south of Canada...does that factor in...

and better...the only section that really isnt is Palins little block...

So... Is the North always better?

That's funny, because I just got me some health care last week for some flu-like symptoms and went to the dentist a few weeks ago. Also, I know some doctors who actually practice healthcare here in the United States. Strange that you insist we don't have healthcare.

I think maybe you meant to say that Canada provides health insurance for everyone. I don't think healthcare and universal health insurance are the same thing.

That's funny, my brother works full time (for 25 years steady), pays his bills, keeps his son in college, yet cannot afford health or dental insurance.

So the United States does not provide health insurance to your brother. So, I think what you wanted to say was "At least Canada provides universal health care to all its residents."

Well hockey was not invented on Long Island...that claim is laughable. It was invented in Canada. To say otherwise is showing your ignorance.
And football...well...the first gridiron version of football was played in Canada in 1861 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. And the first version of what is now American football played in the USA was when McGill University (from Montreal) played Harvard in 1874. It was adapted to fit the smaller field at Harvard. Walter Camp set up the modern rules for the game though a decade later.
