Comments Invited For Dice Bonus Suggestion

Post by chipv »

This is more of a Foundry/XML suggestion so I am wondering what mapmakers think about this, even
if it has been suggested before:

In a nutshell it is a suggestion for new map XML tags for adjusting dice rolls on specific territories to give the feeling of strength and defence.

Sorry if suggested before but here goes anyway

Dice Bonus Thread

Thanks in advance for any input. If there really is no interest then we can consider this type of topic buried, I guess.

It's a nice addition... only reservation I have is the fact the number can't go over 6. It's a coding issue I know, but what's the point if you can't get a 7 to override a defenders 6 if the attacker is supposed to be more powerful. I think it defeats the purpose.

That aside, I think it'd be a welcome addition.

Can we put all comments in the thread in Suggs please so they are all in one place, thanks.

The restriction to between 1 and 6 is made up - by me, not a coding issue at all.
The code can still perform a comparison on 2 numbers as it does now so yes it could be 7.

What I was thinking was trying to prevent things like giving a territory +6 or even +5 (or -6 or -5)
which would make attackers near or even unstoppable and defence near or even impregnable.
Same goes for weakness.

Doesn't have to be like that, which is why I am welcoming any suggestions.

Thanks - that's good input.
