You guys should really invest in at least 1 snowplow, they are very helpful.

Yeah, it takes around 6+ inches or -40 wind chill to cancel school here, which doesn't happen too often, even in WIneanderpaul14 wrote:maasman wrote:That sounds awful.

LMAO.........yeah here in New England it takes feet of snow to hinder us.

Only 6+? If we got 6ft (which seems to be getting to that point here) then the schools might consider closing. But here in Wyoming, we not only have to deal with inches to feet of snow, ice covered roads, and sub-zero temperatures, but also winds up to 60+ mph. And those winds are year round.maasman wrote:Yeah, it takes around 6+ inches or -40 wind chill to cancel school here, which doesn't happen too often, even in WIneanderpaul14 wrote:maasman wrote:That sounds awful.

(our school district likes to punish us for some reason)
and that doesn't necessarily mean anything else is slowed down too much.
Wow, kind of sad really. Pck up a shovel and start shoveling.billy07 wrote:and britain grinds to a halt.
a couple of days of snow has seen our roads become treacherous and the railways virtually cancelled. hence nobody or the vast majority stay at home. today i needed to speak to a solicitor and due to the 'inclement weather' the bitch is reluctant to get off her lazy arse.
the shops have had no fresh meat, fruit/veg or bread. the authorities where i live have not even attempted to clear the major roads or the footpaths of the city. it's bloody ridiculous!
thank god hitler never got his hands on a giant snow making machine. for if he had, the nazi's would've marched through britain unhindered.
I think because of this you guys have better funding for winter preparedness, at 6 inches here the roads start getting pretty awful even with plows in full force.muy_thaiguy wrote:Only 6+? There are only a few roads or so in town that actually get plowed. Mainly Grand and 3rd. And those 2 because they run right through town onto highways. Mostly, it is I-80 that needs to be plowed, especially on "the summit" as it is one of the most treacherous passes in the nation. Year round at that. Mainly due to foolish truckers driving 75, downhill, in heavy rain.maasman wrote:I think because of this you guys have better funding for winter preparedness, at 6 inches here the roads start getting pretty awful even with plows in full force.muy_thaiguy wrote:Only 6+? I've always thought it was partly because people in the dry, warm climates of America let their tires get ridiculously bald, so when a little drizzle comes, it's like the end of the world. The Neon Peon wrote:I live in Austin right now, and it seems that every time we have bad weather, it is impossible to drive onto a freeway because there are too many car crashes. I've lived in places where the type of weather that causes this is around for half the year without causing as much trouble as it does in one day over here.
It's all up to whether you are used to that kind of weather or not.

Luxury. We used to dream of 6 ft of snow. I remember when the snow would cover up all but the tallest buildings, and we had to survive on nothing but wicker furniture and younger siblings, and they'd still have us come into school. I had to tunnel through two miles of snow every morning, both ways, and sometimes the snow would collapse and bury me until the spring thaw.muy_thaiguy wrote:Only 6+? If we shut down everytime we had a little snow, Wyoming would be shut down at least 8 months of the year.
Okay first of all, where the hell in WI gets snow days for 6 inches? They used to send us outside for recess in that shit, and that was in IL.maasman wrote:Yeah, it takes around 6+ inches or -40 wind chill to cancel school here, which doesn't happen too often, even in WI

OK, now that I think about this post, I feel mean......lol.....BUT.......I live in BRITISH Columbia, on Vancouver Island, and every year we get a dump of snow on our usually rainy winter season, and every year some bonehead kills somebody by driving badly in it, or simply choosing to ignore it and hoping it will go away. I moved here 26 years ago from snowy Nova Scotia, and it STILL pisses me off to see people whine about it and yet not pick up a shovel. Fix the problem guys! And help out your neighbours who can't! sheesh!glide wrote:This is snow:
