F****** Windows

Post by Army of GOD »

Ok, so I installed Windows 7 last week (it's funny, because as I was uninstalling non-compatible Vista items, my Vista crashed and went into this loop of restarting infinitely. F****** Windows), and I'm having a problem when typing scheisse. For some reason, something will randomly click when I'm typing (like, it's doing it a bunch of times at the moment) and the cursor will appear in a random spot in the text or just make it so that I have to click on the text box again to get typing again. And I googled this problem and only found one thing that seemed like it'd help, but those Microsoft guys are so glib, because it didn't work.

So, are there any people who know how to solve this f****** Windows problem?

I had that problem a couple of times, but would you know it, I can't remember what I did to fix it. You can try inserting you windows disk and then run a repair (I am not familiar with Windows 7 so I am lost). The only other thing is a complete reinstall (and I know how none of us want to do that!)

Wipe the harddrive and install Linux, or buy a mac. ;)

I also had the same problem but I think it just went away...

I have always asserted that Microsoft is evil and must be destroyed. But hey, it beats the competition.

i fix computers for a living, and typically when people say its randomly clicking, its either a bad mouse, or a laptop and theyre bumping the touchpad with their new watch/bracelet/extra arm skin/etc...

if you upgraded from a vista installation that was crashing, then your windows 7 is probably gonna have problems too, beware... a fresh install is always best when upgrading to a new operating system...

EDIT: every once in a while the 'random mouse clicks' are caused by a virus, or a program that is continually freezing, have you been getting non-responsive messages about programs? programs freezing up perhaps?

I'm a bit of a computer geek, if you give me a bit more info on you computer I could be able to help (detailed specs). As mentioned earlier, it sounds like you have a crappy mouse. Try a different one or reinstall the current mouse's drivers. Win7 has bugs in it the same as any other OS but with a bit of time you should be able to iron them all out.

It's a new mouse and I'm making sure I'm not touching that or the pad so I don't think that could be the problem.

Oh, and my friend happened to have a fresh version of 64-bit Windows 7 that he wasn't using and I just use the CD key from my upgrade thing and it worked.

And Idk...sometimes. But I just thought that was Windows being Windows.

I just finished wiping my hard drive, re formatting & installing 64 bit windows 7. I like it so far, install was seamless. The layout in explorer & such is gonna take some getting used to though :D

First you need to pray, here is a sample:

Our Bill who art at Microsoft,
Let your Empire Come,
As you build in Redmond, also all over the world.
Give us are daily software,
and deliver us from the unix clones.

Remember to also email your prayer to askbill@microsoft.com.

...

Second, you need to appreciate that this mouse stuff is not a problem, but a feature. Mindlessly clicking and typing on computers can cause repetitive strain injuries, these random clicks are helping you to break the repetition and think deeply about your life, and why you waste time with firefox when you could be using IE.

I've got a mac and never encountered this problem.

(you just knew someone with a mac would get here and say that didn't you?)

A valid point, my only issue is that for the same price a PC, especially a home built one, is much faster then a mac. (Yes I know that they don't look too bad at apple.com, but go look at the prices after you try to stuff in a few more gigs of ram or get a OC'ed CPU...)

Army of God, you mentioned that it is a new mouse, try using some old usb mouse you have lying around and see if that works, also if you tell me the mouses model i could get more information.

A few more gigs of ram compared to a Mac isn't too hot of shit to jump on, but yes Macs are generally much more expensive.

My main reason why I'd most likely never switch to Mac is because I know too much about Windows and its shortcuts and inner-workings; whereas, with Macs I'm completely lost and really don't want to devote the time to relearning the equivalent amount of knowledge for the Mac OS.

Ok, I'll try that. And the model is "Optical Mouse USBM/N: M-BZ96C"

Also, another problem that is just annoying after "going 7" was that back when I had Vista, my laptop would show a volume bar when I changed the volume or muted it. Now, not only does it not show the volume bar, but the mute button doesn't even work anymore! I have a ThinkPad T400 if it means anything and if you can help.

Macs are awesome. However more expensive, I believe they are worth it (if you're not into gaming and such, of course).
I use a Mac keyboard and a Mac mouse instead of the default ones, and I've never been happier =D

Logitech kinda sucks when it comes to legacy product support... your mouse isn't supported in win 7 maybe if you download SetPoint 4.80 that might solve some of your issues. SetPoint 4.80 is logitech's basic compatibility software, but there is no guaranties it will work. just Google SetPoint 4.80 and download from anyplace that doesn't look real sketchy.
here for 64 bit

here for 32 bit

i know it says vista but that is the way logitech rolls.

@ BBS The RAM and the quad core bit is important to me. I use CAD software everyday, and a slow response time can slow progress in Inventor (my CAD software) to a crawl. 8 gigs DDR3 ftw

Win 7 doesn't show the volume changing, its just one of the graphics tweaks in Win 7. Idk about the muting problem however.

Ok, thanks a bunch. I'll download that and see what happens.

Ah, f****** Windows. I hate not being able to see the volume bar. Oh well.

When I hear Macintosh, I instantly think of those nifty little soap boxes with black&white screens that my elementary school had in it's computer class, way back...

They had mouses with one button only.

Seriously, one button mouses! What's with that?

Anyway I guess Macs are a bit better these days.

I'm sorry I can't help with the problem at hand though. I use windows XP...
