Boston Tea Party 2010

Post by Phatscotty »

Looks like Brown is ahead by a significant margin, and early calls are for a decisive victory for Scott Brown, hopefully ending the short-lived super-majority of the Democrats in the senate. Again, another state, that Obama won by 26 points has swung republican.
Ted Kennedy, Mass. Senator who spent a lifetime working for health care reform, is succeeded, by democratic vote from the people of Mass., by a candidate running with the platform of killing the health care reform bill

I tried to start a thread about Scott Brown on Dec. 16th.

No one on this site cared... those who even knew there was an election assumed the Democrat "what's her name" would win.

I found comedy coverage by Jon Stewart funny, (eg google "john stewart daily show"), don't see much TV but have noticed that he can make fun of both sides unlike some of the other when searching using google.

In a more favorable time for Democrats anyone with a pulse could win in Mass. Its not only her. There is a current here that Democrats are swimming against (much like Republicans did in 2006 and 2008). Strong Democratic candidates in strong Blue states are safe. If you have either a weak Democratic candidate in a strong Blue state or a strong Democratic candidate in a Purple or Red state they are vulnerable. A weak Democrat in a Red state is just there to fill out a ticket in this environment.

No, she seemed to me like she would be a pretty good senator, at least better than the other guy, but she was not very electable.
Although, from the DA's I have met, they are mostly all assholes, so I don't know, it might have been a loose loose in Massachusetts.

Yeah... Mass doesn't want a federal healthcare bill because their state already has the highest overall healthcare coverage. When asked, "What about the rest of the 50 states?" Brown replied, "I'm here to protect MY state."
