Yeah dude. The Japanese work FAR more than you and still live longer.

Man lucky Americans! you get to work longer hours, in order to pay for expensive health, which doesn't even keep you healthy, boy I sure wish I could get some of that.

Lol okay, keep thinking that correlation always implies causation and see how far that gets you. I hope you aren't scientists.

BTW I even said that UHC MIGHT be a good idea

We need to establish a legitimate state-sponsored royal family in the USA. Once we do, we can do away with taxes. The US royal family (Emperor, Empress, Emperor-elect, etc.] will christen new electors, archdukes, dukes, kings, count palatines, barons, grafs, margraves, landgraves, burgraves, princes, count of the Empire, altgraves, lords, knights, and so on. We will return to a feudal-like system where the rest of us are serfs and owe an oath of fealty to the royals.

By establishing the first Galactic Empire of the United States, we not only can rule the world, but also the galaxy. How? Only the people with the most money will be given titles. Inherent in the responsibility of those with titles is to provide for their subjects and their charges. All "public" services will be provided for by the gad-zillionaires. They'll be happy with their titles and with the knowledge that they control how their money is spent.

The rest of us can, well, just sit here and accept it given we pretty much already do that.

this poll is really cute, mostly because in neither option would currency even exist. in the first option there's no fucking point and in the second there is no state and therefore no currency (at least not in the way we know it)

Colloquially speaking, spreading the money around, e.g. by ensuring that people are paid fair wages, makes it possible for a vast number of people to spend more money than they otherwise could. Read again: spend money. The money goes right back into the economy and translates into profits for a variety of businesses.

Oh and also, more equal societies are better of in social terms. Less violence, less teenage pregnancy, less murders, less obesity and so on. Thats a measure of wealth that you can't count like GDP.

Different times, man.

Besides it wasn't absolute then, there was parliament and some states had representation. Better absolute US Monarchy than being a bitch-ass Canadian who still pays taxes to the Queen.

Ya, like, a HUGE percentage of are taxes go to her... Something like, 0%, it's insane.

The Galactic Empire worked pretty well... it wasn't techincally an aristocracy... more like a dictatorship. But they had enough loot to build two death stars.

yes, the death stars. a symbol of fear. and it did collapse after only 35 years. There was a war the first 5, and the last 10.

True... except that the Empire did not understand how to deal with insurgents. They should have had more operatives within the Rebel organization (as I recall, they had none). It would have helped. In any event, as we all know, "overconfidence" was the Empire's undoing.

This from Wikipedia:
Wikipedia wrote: The Parliament of Canada (French: Parlement du Canada) is the federal legislative branch of Canada, seated at Parliament Hill in the national capital, Ottawa. Formally, the body consists of the Canadian monarch – represented by her Governor General – the Senate, and the House of Commons, each element having its own officers and organisation...

...The parliament of Canada is composed of three parts: the monarch, the Senate, and the House of Commons.

The sovereign is regarded as the head of state by official government sources, judges, and constitutional scholars, while the Governor General and Lieutenant Governors are all only representatives of, and thus equally subordinate to, that figure.
The sovereign is styled the Queen of Canada, but she is one-and-the-same the Queen of England, Elizabeth II.

This from 2005, when the Queen dissolved Canada's Parliament:

"Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin dissolved the House of Commons Tuesday and elections were set following Parliament's vote of no confidence in the government.

Martin went to the official residence of Governor-General Michaelle Jean, representative of head of state Queen Elizabeth, and announced that she had granted his request to dissolve Parliament and that the election would be on Jan. 23."

IMO, you're in a monarchical government, and your taxes...eventually find their way to the Royal Family.
