Check out some Berlioz, and some Richard Strauss (other than the obvious Zarathustra)

Also listen to some Johan Christian Bach.

Really not my forte.

Take a listen. When we say "Bach" we usually think of the Dad. The son was hot stuff too.

I just listened to Minuet in G and Cello Suite No 1. Those were both pretty good.

Haunting, yet beautiful. Just as the story of how it was written....
Today it just seems so... I dunno, dark or something given what happened to it's composer.

I specially like the slow version of it. It's beautiful. I wanted to learn piano to play it, never did it tho.

Your last line encouraged me to look into what happened. It appears as if he was murdered and is widely speculated as such. What a rather foolish thing to do, don't you think? One can only speculate as to the number of potential Beethoven's or potential parents of Beethovens throughout the centuries who began to dream of the life of a contemporary Beethoven and then stopped short psychologically because his natural instinct for survival (burried at the very least subconsciencely) naturally stirred his thoughts to something more practical.

What is "Classical?" I ask this question because classical can be either a period or a style.

Is "Song" accidental or is this supposed to be a "got you" question. Song: a short metrical composition intended or adapted for singing.

Assuming that you meant musical composition, I was reminded by NPR the other day of the modern Agagio for Strings by Samuel Barber. If you are not crying at the end of the piece, you're not human.

This is followed by Pachelbel's Canon in D major, but this predates the classical period.

Anyway back to songs. I don't think many people are familiar with many songs of the classical era with the exception of hymns.
