This is an invitation to all the monkey community who are not americans to post related to your country, or whatever else that's not merely american.
Nietzsche,
For what it's worth, I would love to see more non-USA political posts on here. Unfortunately, in the US, it is very tough to find any detailed international news and zero commentary on it. We can hear a bit on NPR (National Public Radio) though the majority of it is via BBC radio conveyed by NPR. I heard about the Greek economic crisis on here long before I heard a hint of it in any of the US media, and the discussion on here offered far more detail than the brief mention any of the US media made about it. As several people have mentioned, the majority of people posting in this forum appear to be from the US (with a decently sized Canadian contingent which is probably also relatively comfortable discussing US politics since they probably have received more detailed analysis on their media than what we in the states get anyway!). Since we know so little about what is going on outside of the US, we generally have little to contribute even if we are keen to know more. Furthermore, from what my wife (who completed an M.A. in Spanish Literature in a program with only two people from the US and quite a few from all over Central and South America) tells me, most of the rest of the world considers it somewhat uncouth to discuss religion and politics in polite casual conversation.
On a side note, it is not really suitable to refer to people from the US as "Americans." I know that's the common term, but the peoples of Central and South America are equally "American" and really don't appreciate the US monopolizing the term. I know I'm a bit of an odd bird for taking either of these two positions, especially as one who tends to lean more conservative/libertarian. But to the extent that I am libertarian in my foreign policy, I tend to prefer the non-interventionist approach of Ron Paul and would like to be on much friendlier terms with the other nations of the world.
