I like Jackie Chan, but why is it called "The Karate Kid" when they are using Kung-Fu!?

The Friday the 13th remake was decent, but you really can't say that about very many remakes.

That one does look kind of good, but more for the effects than the plot so far. I'm wary of another Speed Racer-style 2 hour headache with nods to a classic.

Next in the series of "The Planet of the Apes".

Takes place where it all started, A romantic adventure about a young lady that is lost in the jungle. She is taken in and raised by a band of Bonoboes. Eventually she manages to birth hybrid offspring. ...And the Saga begins.

Iron Man 2 should be fun, Toy Story 3 likewise. New Robin Hood has Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe, so a step up from Kevin Costner, and a step down from Alan Rickman.

I was merely commenting on the fact that they cast a white guy to play Goku in Dragonball Z. As soon as I heard that I was like....yep, movie is terrible. Seriously, they could have grabbed an extra off the set of Gran Torino and he would have done a better job. I just hate how Hollywood stereotypes all mainstream Asian actors as Kung Fu masters and never casts them in anything else even when it's blindingly obvious they should be.

And actually, the original series is only like 50 episodes long (the DBZ series is somewhere over 500). And the live action Dragon Ball bastardized the original storyline. Pissed me off.

Speaking of Sorceror's Apprentice, I saw the trailer while watching Alice in Wonderland. I had no idea it was derived from Fantasia. Just like Sherlock Holmes looked very little like the classic one, it looks like they took a cartoon of Mickey Mouse and grittied him up a lot.

Speaking of Alice in Wonderland, it's less odd than Burton's recent films (Sweeny Todd anyone?) and the action was alright, but I really thought Depp carried the film and all the other characters were really lackluster.

As for most pointless upcoming remakes, Let Me In has to be a serious contender. Really, the original is from 2008, the idea of a remake of King Kong or War of the Worlds makes sense, how the remake turns out is a different question, but the idea of a remake makes sense for movies that old. But Let the right one in is from 2008, there's no reason for a remake practically immediately after a movie has come out, especially not when there's hardly anything about the original that could have been done better.

Although I love love love the Coen brothers, why remake True Grit? I'm sure it'll be awesome, but why?

On a similar note, the remake of Bad Lieutenant, while rather well done, seemed a trifle unnecessary.

Yeah- just watched the original, and thought it was great. I can't see what a remake would add apart from English speakers. I guess anything with vampires is good for business at the moment, whatever the actual merit of the film.

As if we needed another Robin Hood film, there's gotta be loads of cool hero stories and myths instead.
