Yeah, I don't think either the Tories or Labour came out well. Clegg had some tricky moments too, but I'm looking forward to a bit more substance in the next debate. They've got to realise that promises don't amount to much if there's no process (of course, just a promised process) backing that up.khazalid wrote:for sure. clegg did really well.
was a bit surprised cameron was ahead of brown on the poll afterwards though. i thought cameron had an awful performance. he was toothless in attack and repetitive in defence.
particularly liked clegg's attack on cameron over the grossly over-egged curbing of government/civil service waste (which is supposed to guard against the need for dramatic cuts in spending on core services according to the tories).
The question is, is how they come across on tv going to change how you vote? Being the most sincere on the box doesnt make the promises are any more likely to happen(or any less likely). As Mr Kinnock put it GB has a good 'radio face' but that doesnt mean he cant do the job. You may think DC is an an oily twat but when has being an oily twat stopped people being good at their job. Mandleson is so oily and slimey, he could slide up hill. Who is the other one....oh yeah Nick Clegg. Of course he came out best, he has very little to lose and therefore can be more relaxed. Whats the worst that can happen for the LibDems? they'll be in the same position after the 6th as they are now. Or they get to choose whose coattails to ride on.Symmetry wrote:Yeah, I don't think either the Tories or Labour came out well. Lol, brilliant quote!Pedronicus wrote:Oh and btw. UKIP is the BNP for people who food shop at M&S.
I was planning on voting Lib Dem anyway (I pointed out my allegiance in the OP). I've really seen nothing from either of the other major parties that would change my mind.Gypsys Kiss wrote:The question is, is how they come across on tv going to change how you vote? If Clegg 'performs' well in all three debates, will that be enough to make you vote for him?

Sure- I posted an outline on the OP.DangerBoy wrote:I can't bother myself to read the entire thread, but can someone from the UK tell us what the big difference between the Labour and Lib Democrats is? I know I could look it up on wiki, but it's more fun to get it straight from someone who has to live with the consequences of the election results over there.
yeah, because it was really a pain to take the time to read through what Symmetry wrote.DangerBoy wrote:I can't bother myself to read the entire thread, but can someone from the UK tell us what the big difference between the Labour and Lib Democrats is? OK, I should have read what he wrote. Now I have and it seems like a choice between socialist and socialist-lite. I guess they are so far gone to the left that even Barack Obama looks conservative to them.bradleybadly wrote:yeah, because it was really a pain to take the time to read through what Symmetry wrote.DangerBoy wrote:I can't bother myself to read the entire thread, but can someone from the UK tell us what the big difference between the Labour and Lib Democrats is? I'm not sure how to take this, were you being serious in your question above? I tried to point you to where I was non-partisan. Not sure if this post is your genuine feeling, or an annoyed reaction against annoyed posters.DangerBoy wrote:OK, I should have read what he wrote. It was not directed towards you personally but rather the UK as a whole. I've read many times whenever we have an election over here that there is no such thing as a socialist or liberal president. I think that's because the Brits are so entrenched to the left that they think anything over here in the USA appears conservative.Symmetry wrote:I'm not sure how to take this, were you being serious in your question above? Except he would have to change the purple bolded part to "capitalist or conservative" Prime Minister to make it actually work.Symmetry wrote:This ^^Gypsys Kiss wrote:OK dumb ass, try thismonster10 wrote:but it don't dumb ass
