single player game?

Post by Grog368 »

I would like to test out a couple interesting maps that I've found, but stepping into a game against veteran opponents when I haven't ever played a map just seems like suicide. Especially since some of them are VERY difficult to even see where the borders are, while others have funky bonuses like highway systems, ships, bombardment, or important cities.

I don't even know how "bombardment" works?

Is there a way to test a map against a computer? Or maybe a 2 player "scrimmage" not for points/stats?

No, this has been suggested however the current status is that you risk points to learn the map but can then gain more than you lost once you know the map.

Also bombardment is where you attack a territory but once you win the battle it it becomes a neutral 1 and you dont advance any troops into it.

I do have a few suggestions
1) Install BOB which will help you see attacking lines, the link is http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41487 however please dont hesitate ask questions either in this thread or by pm.
2) Find a teammate who is good at the map you want to learn and play a team game, thus you can learn the map from them while playing a regular game.

Lastly I would be willing to play a few team games with you provided the maps you want to learn are maps i know

LOL "provided the maps you want to learn are maps I know"

My dad taught me about trusting strangers like you. :P Seriously though, I might take you up on that offer in the future. I'm still just figuring out how the site works, and if I like it, so I'm non-premium right now and limited to 4 games. My first ranking just opened up yesterday, so I'm waiting on some Terminator and Assassin type games to start to see how those game types play out.

But the thing I'm noticing while looking for games to join.... Player X will have started up 10-20 new games, all of the same type, map, placement, spoils, etc..... And those maps seem interesting, but there's no way in Hell, I'm joining against some power user that is on his "home turf", so to speak.

Thanks for the tip on BOB, but I've so far stayed away from installing any scripts on my browser, and it's not even an option at work.

But if you don't mind, I'll probably hit you up next week (after the holiday) to test out a map. I can send you a list of some interesting ones, or maybe even chose one of your favs. Thanks, ljex. :)

I'm also happy to play you and share some of the limited wisdom I have about the game. My favorite is World 2.1. I do pretty well on Classic, North America, USA, Doodle Earth, British Isles, Africa, Route 66, and Conquer 4.

I've also been learning Feudal and WWII Poland from some pros, so I can play you there and see how well I'm absorbing my studies while passing on some knowledge to you.

Once my computer is properly fixed, I'll be happy to show you the ropes on a couple of maps ;-)

to be honest, i'm offering to play against our young friend since i'm stronger at singles than doubles. but i will give out plenty of pointers along the way.

but if you'd prefer doubles, that's cool too.
