Funny thing about that word "faction"...it can be used to talk about a very small group within another group. Yet, you use it in a manner that implies great size (i.e. "entire faction"). Do you actually believe that a large part of the tea party movement is racist and, if so, can you show any evidence of that?mpjh wrote:There is a big difference between one aberrant bureaucrat and an entire faction of the tea party movement.

Really? I'm honestly surprised to hear that. I suspect there are very few, if any, folks in here that disagree with me more than...oh...80% of the time or so IF they read everything I post (but who really wants to do that?). By the same token, I seriously doubt there are many in here that agree with me more than 75% of the time, so...<grin>nesterdude wrote:Why Woodruff, I believe that is first post you've made I can agree w/Woodruff wrote:Funny thing about that word "faction"...it can be used to talk about a very small group within another group. Fair enough. I don't think it's even remotely that large, but I don't really have any data to back up my opinion on it either.mpjh wrote:Actually, I believe this faction is about half the participants at the largest tea party fests.
Interesting. I haven't looked, but I'm lazy enough to take your word on that, given there are enough folks reading this to point out for me if it's wrong. <grin>mpjh wrote:Yeah, you can look up the fund raising reports of the organizations involved. You will find that the faction that was expelled raised about half the money.
If you can believe their own numbers.

This was definitely MY first reaction. Then I saw more of the full video and, given the context, she really did NOT say what this brief excerpt makes it seem.bradleybadly wrote:Night Strike wrote:"I was struggling with the fact that so many black people have lost their farmland and here I was faced with having to help a white person save their land -- so I didn't give him the full force of what I could do. WTF!
What utter and complete bullshit. Those who live in glass houses................
Overall, I agree with a lot of what you said, but you got a couple of points distorted. First, I don't believe that the Black Panthers are an official part of the NAACP or their power structure. Second, though the Black Panthers is often painted as the black equivalent to the KKK, the truth is the old group is not. I don't know much about the so-called "new" black panther party, but the original group was actually non-violant, despite the news clips of Hewey N. on the Sacramento state capitol steps.thegreekdog wrote:
I think the lack of denouncement of the Black Panthers (for example) absolutely illegitimizes the NAACP's denouncement of the Tea Party racists. Certainly the NAACP is picking its battles - it's picking a battle with an organization that threatens the Democratic Party.
of course we can. Obviously, the issue is where the racism has been alleged. Such a broad stroke, so little evidence. Now it has been proven that the media straight up conspired to play the race card collectively. The false edifice they stand upon is razor thin. I don't know how much room they have for any more race-baiters...Frigidus wrote:So what I'm getting is that the NAACP is condemning some of the open racists in the Tea Party, and the Tea Party is saying NO U? Can't we all agree that racists are bad?
Really, then why did the tea party eject some of its own for racist statements?jimboston wrote:I think people who post on this subject should first let the community know if they have or have not ever ectually BEEN to a Tea Party event... like live... in real life... personally.
I have been to two. I did not see any racist posters or signs at either.
The most "in-your-face" poster / group at one event... the one that jumps out in my memory... was a group of three young girls who were protesting AGAINST the Tea Party. They had very inflamatory signs... a were actively calling people at the event names like "racist" "gay basher"... etc.
I am walking along and these 3 girls are screaming at people who are DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THEM. I walked around them, as I try to avoid confrontation. (As seen here in this forum... I work hard to avoid it, but if it comes to me...)
So I see one guy stops and asks them "What are you girls protesting... why are you here?"... and one of them answers... picture this... screaming right-up in the guy's face. "We're here protesting because you hate us."
Now I look at this girls... young 20 somethings... 2 are white, one asain... and at least one has on some buttons or a shirt that seems to indicate she is a lesbian. They are (all three) pretty... not models but attractive... and I think to myself. I don't hate them at all... quite the contrary. Then I think... well I don't hate them, but if I was that guy, who just asked a question, and this girl got up his face... yeah, if I was him, I would probably hate them.
You know you can't prove a negative Doctor. We all know this.King Doctor wrote:Are you
calling that legislator a liar?
Do you have proof that this incident did not occur? All you need is footage of him walking unmolested in front of the protestors? If all of this media was around, then why haven't they come forward to denounce these claims as falsehoods? This isn't the first time that they have been made.
Because ejecting racists is the right thing to do, as shown here. Which is far more than I can say for most other groups, especially on the left.mpjh wrote:Really, then why did the tea party eject some of its own for racist statements?jimboston wrote:I think people who post on this subject should first let the community know if they have or have not ever ectually BEEN to a Tea Party event... like live... in real life... personally.

Pff, after being in here and talking about this exact issue over the last 6 months, you are getting a clue now?mpjh wrote:Good, glad you agree the racists in the tea party should go.
This is thoroughly irrelevant to the point.PLAYER57832 wrote:Overall, I agree with a lot of what you said, but you got a couple of points distorted. First, I don't believe that the Black Panthers are an official part of the NAACP or their power structure.thegreekdog wrote:

The current Black Panthers are not only similar to the KKK, but I personally believe them to be worse.PLAYER57832 wrote:Second, though the Black Panthers is often painted as the black equivalent to the KKK, the truth is the old group is not. The Tea Party response here is Standard Operating Procedure. Would not it be great if all groups really, REALLY took a stand against racism the way the Tea Party Does?
A racist showed up at an event. I dont see how I could have possibly said this has never happened, and I tell you now I have never once believed that. Out of 10's of millions of people of all races and parties, you are going to try to put in my mouth that I took the position there was never a single racist?Woodruff wrote:Phatscotty before the ejection: "The Tea Party doesn't have racists"Phatscotty wrote:Because ejecting racists is the right thing to do, as shown here. Well, I'm sure much of the discussion was in the thread named "Is the Tea Party Racist?" The conversation has not been "Is there at least 1 racist in the tea party" This shit is getting silly, but it's on you sompjh wrote:Actually, I think woodruff summarized you quite well.

of course it's "a racist" the example I provided, and I assume we are still talking about, is 1 person.Woodruff wrote:Even now, you're trying to dwindle it down to "a racist".
