The most telling paragraph of this whole thread.trapyoung wrote:
Why am I here? Because I'm a masochist who thinks one day I'll log on and start having fun again. Like I said there are aspects of the site I enjoy and if I'm not allowed to talk about the aspects I dislike than f*ck me but what happened to a user-driven community? But you're right, if I continue to despise 80% of the site then I don't think I'll re-up and if you look at contributing members who used to be prominent but who have all but disappeared I'd say the quality of the site has gone down - what happened to AndrewB, Seussleuthian, aliakber, Dancing Mustard, and a whole elephant graveyard of community members that made this site thrive?
So what did happen to those guys?Fruitcake wrote:The most telling paragraph of this whole thread.trapyoung wrote:what happened to AndrewB, Seussleuthian, aliakber, Dancing Mustard, and a whole elephant graveyard of community members that made this site thrive?
I've actually gotten feedback/inquiries from quite a few mods - to my count 6 covering C&A, Chat, Discussions, Clans, Suggs, and Tech - on my thoughts etc. and I was actually pretty surprised at most of the reactions. I figured this would be locked fairly quickly for a few obvious reasons but apparently what I said hit a nerve with a few people who had similar sentiments. All of their comments have been receptive and nice and I'd like to say "cheers" to them for taking the time to read and go out of their way to keep this open so people can continue to post and discussPedronicus wrote:If admin hasn't read this thread, then a mod should be sending Lack a linked pm.
(5) CC needs to enforce the age limit. Maybe that limit is at 15-16, but seriously...
How do you plan on verifying someone's age on the internet?(5) CC needs to enforce the age limit. Maybe that limit is at 15-16, but seriously...

It's pretty much unworkable but that doesn't mean the site cannot take the official policy that the minimum age is "x" and for those who chose not to read the rules, spam the forums, and just be a constant nuisance, I don't anticipate them to actually read the policy regarding age and I'm sure quite a few could be restricted when they put their age as 12 on their profiles. If you can conduct yourself like an adult on the site, power to you and you can continue to play. This is directed towards the others who cannot control themselves.natty_dread wrote:How do you plan on verifying someone's age on the internet?(5) CC needs to enforce the age limit. I know IMVU does age verificiation (but this is for 18+ as opposed to 15+) I'm having problems with the internet right now (some pages like this one load fine and others seem hung at certain places) so I can't pull up their help page but I think they use a third party verification service that costs them $$$$.natty_dread wrote:How do you plan on verifying someone's age on the internet?(5) CC needs to enforce the age limit. Why in gods name did that teacher let them all create an account?eddie2 wrote:i think this is a good idea you could make it that they have to tick a box saying they are of age, but on a down side i do remember reading a couple of months ago that a teacher uses cc for his leasons with disabled children might be worth adding a poll for this.

it isn't about flaming... it is about the quality of the forums and the general attitude of the site since the mass bannings began... oddly enough less than 3% of the site ever visit the forums, yet they were cleaned up for the masses and underage children that may have seen or read something offensive. in cleaning up the forums by going for the lowest common denominator (anyone that has read an old thread vs one of the newer style mod created/troll bumped threads can attest to this), the flavor and uniqueness of the forums was lost. many people that were given permanent bans were not understood by the admins/majority of mods, but loved by the loyal forum goers. guess who won out in the end. it wasn't the consumers and loyal forum goers. this place is now overrun with under age trolls, suck up volunteer mods (i hate that many of the older mods that are fabulous in their capacity are lumped in with the new class of troll mod), repeat spam threads, and a litany of offenders that have yet to read the forum rules. say what you want about DM, but i can pull any one of his threads out, dust it off, bump it, and it would still stand up today as being witty, edgy, smart, fun, rebellious and teetering on the edge of the rules... say what you want, but when Twill was replaced by an imaginary admin sent in to clean things up, a huge part of what makes CC special died... they didn't just manage to kill off a few of the dissidents, they managed to kill off the forums...-the black jesuseddie2 wrote:how have a over 18s part of the site maybe you could open a user group for over 18s only where you can flame each other in there or whatever

Well you already know what happened to DancingMustard. It seems like AndrewB's still around occasionally, though he doesn't post. Seulessliathan was one of my favorite tourney players...I don't have any idea at all why he or aliakber left.King Doctor wrote:So what did happen to those guys?Fruitcake wrote:The most telling paragraph of this whole thread.trapyoung wrote:what happened to AndrewB, Seussleuthian, aliakber, Dancing Mustard, and a whole elephant graveyard of community members that made this site thrive?
Quite right trap. I also had to change my gender to male, to avoid all this crap-talk.trapyoung wrote:Another thing I hate...
The unabashed, 11-year old, virgin squeal some male players make on the site while interacting with female players. I have read countless posts and game chats that just cross the line into wildly uncomfortable when some guy gets a boner because he's chatting with happy2seeyou or any other female on the site. Honestly, if you want attention, list your sex as female and post a picture that suggests you're a female, hot or not, and you will have dozens of people pm'ing you or stalking you to get a net-chubbie. Seriously, just because some female writes on your wall does not mean you're going to f*ck them so how about you ice yourselves down - did most of you get over here from chat-roulette and found this to be a better way to jerk off to girls because no one can see you on a webcam? People have fallen all over themselves to talk to h2sy, clapper, insomnia red, tisha, dazerazer, luvr, foxy, and im sure countless others and the amount of uncomfortable infatuation is just pathetic. Grow up, tuck your dick into the elastic of your boxers and act f*cking normal - I don't enjoy reading it and I'm sure they [the ones without low self-esteem] don't enjoy hearing it. Be friends with them because they're good players or fun to talk to, but not to get your hard on.

Holy shit that's funny.net-chubbie
I've been here since year dot. I try to be witty, smart fun and rebellious, but to be honest it's hard work being funny when so many of this sites great protagonists have been banned, there is less and less material to work with.thegreekdog wrote:
I know that some peoples' initial reactions are "we should bring back Dancing Mustard." Assuming that will not happen, are there alternatives? I say yes. And those alternatives are to be witty, smart, fun, and rebellious (within the rules) yourselves. I've found that, although perhaps we've lost some entertaining posters, there remain entertaining and intelligent posters and we are constantly bringing in new ones. I think if you want to be one of those posters, you should try to be one. If you are complaining about the lack of entertainment in the forums, go provide that entertainment. I can certainly understand how you can have some frustration regarding the content of the forums, but a lot of you are witty, smart, fun, and rebellious and, therefore, you can change the content of the forums to reflect the content you want to see.
So do you think if the moderators merge or remove the dice-bitching threads, congratulatory threads, obama threads, and American political threads, there will be more varied, witty, and entertaining threads? This is what confuses me - you could go right now into the off-topics forum and create whatever thread you wanted (within the rules) (like, for example, a thread on ska music). So why don't you do that? Because Dancing Mustard and heavycola aren't here? That simply doesn't make sense to me. The entertainment one gets from the forums is user-created entertainment. So, if there isn't enough entertainment, it should be the responsibility of the user (and, yes, the discussion moderators like me) to provide more entertainment, right? I'm in a couple of private user groups and there are fantastic, witty, and entertaining threads in the forums of those user groups. They are all users of this site and could post those types of threads in off-topics (or general discussion if CC-related).Pedronicus wrote:I've been here since year dot. But we're just touching on the humorous forum content. Trapyoung brought up other valid points regarding the endless dice bitching threads, the endless congratulatory threads. I'd add to that the endless obama threads and the endless American political threads. Why don't the mods focus on these repetitive threads and just merge them until they no longer become an issue?
I'll admit that I recently created a thread congratulating myself on breaking my high score, but, I made it in the bumpage forum (where I inhabit on a regular basis) for a change and added a ridiculous poll to let everyone vote to say I should STFU about talking about points and it took me 2 and a half years to break that score.
If you want the forums to be a place to visit, make them more varied in content / title.
But the mods instead allow countless dice gripes, obama sucks, I've got 4000 points and a todger that wouldn't fill a hummingbirds arsehole to remain. They then ban DM, dm goes and soon after heavycola disappears. 2 of the greatest posters in bumpage go and you expect new witty posters to replace these heavyweights? New and witty posters would of been encouraged by having these people and more like them in place instead of having their input removed.
Check out some of the TPA tournaments (which gets my vote for a great part of the site right now), I just got handed 12 games in the opening round of the Power of Three tournament, which in the same week I got handed 8 new Smiert Spionen final round games and 9 Headhunter final round games tells me there are plenty of tourneys which need serious work.trapyoung wrote:

I think some CC-aholics have no problem with this, totally agree with the OP (great opening post).sonicsteve wrote: I refuse to join anything called "I want a easy medal", imagine how you'd feel about winning it.
