Playing For Others

Post by Al B. Damned »

In several of the games that I'm currently active in there have been chat announcements stating (to the effect) "Player X is in for Player Y." Isn't this tantamount to a violation of the multiple account rule?

No it is not. You are allowed to have someone sit for your account when you can't take your turn. This link should help answer some of your questions, http://www.conquerclub.com/eticket/index.php. But here is the answer from the Q&A page.

17. Can I let another player take a turn for me when I am away from the game?

You can, with the stipulation that the account babysitter is not your opponent in any current game. It is common courtesy to announce in game chat that another player will take your turn(s) during your absence. Babysitters should only do what is necessary to take the turn(s) and should not interact with the community, start or join new games (except for ongoing tournaments). Furthermore, you should only take another player's turn if they are in danger of missing a turn, not for the purpose of gaining a tactical advantage.

Good to know, I also would have thought that this is not allowed...

as long as you announce it in gamechat it will be nice and dandy.
beware: you cannot let someone sit who is your opponant in that game. Also you cannot sit for your teammate in freestyle since that would be considered a tactical advantage.

But there´s nothing like a "vacation mode", is it? You only have the opportunity to commit the game to anyone else, right?

no vacation mode.
harsh but true, do not start games you cannot finish. Having said that, everybody has a real life they need to tend too so keep in mind that it is possible to have a sitter, but preferable if you do your own turns.

To have a sitter you need to give someone your password and ask them to take your turns for you. If you ever need a sitter and dont have anyone you can go to callouts and post there, im sure someone will offer.
