I believe they do this in Korea.vtmarik wrote:I'd institute training in fencing and martial arts in all public schools, so kids feel empowered and don't see the need for guns.

I think perchorin knows, he's in South Korea.hecter wrote:Well I know somebody who went to teach in korea and she said that the students in post-secondary education had to be proficiant in a martial arts to graduate.
coming from a military background, i feel compelled to respond...you know me very well VT, don't take this the wrong way...vtmarik wrote: I'd restrict military recruiters to where they cannot bother people in shopping malls, schools, and their mailboxes. If someone wants to join the military, they'll call you. Don't shove it down anyone's throat.

sometimes, the military recruiters do good...sometimes, people do want info on the military, and aren't sure how to get it...i know at my school, when they come (once a year) they have to stay behind their tables, and they can't reach out to get our attention...they can say stuff, but they can't like grab our arms or anything...and they can't walk through our crowds...the rules we have right now about what they can and can't do seem good enough to me...because not everyone who wants to join know how...and sometimes, its not something you can ask your parents about
okay, the rant is over...
