The only change I can see ever for this would be to change the colours from blue and red to silver and gold. As I said before, this seems like flogging a dead horse, and I can see this being rejected soon. I will try and speak to a few admin and maybe one or two of the Tech Team to see how easy it would be just to change the colour. It would be pretty easy I should think.

No, it's very difficult to make silver and gold ? images!!!!



Admittedly, it could take a little extra tweaking to make sure the address programs point to the right image slot.

I really liked the feather... though I don't know as if it's a good fit for new recruits anyways... I think the red and blue is better for the ? symbol. It makes the red and blue of the colonel symbols not look so out of place, but I suppose there is the colored diamond for the first class ranks... Idk I still think red and blue are better than silver and gold for the ?'s.

True, but there are already issues with some of the rank insignia on this site. IF this suggestion ends up putting forward the feather, it would not be inconsistent with the fact that the rank insignia are somewhat conquer-club specific.

His statement wasn't offensive, but it was accurate. You honestly have taken on KLOBBER's attitude of "if I don't like it, it didn't happen" in this thread, which is a disservice to your own suggestion.

I saw 53% supporting it and 47% opposed. I never saw the supporting vote cross 55% once the poll got more than a couple dozen votes (and I did poke my head in periodically to see what the newest numbers were). The previous poll I put up had roughly 52% voting to keep the question mark (with a minority of those wanting to change the colors only). I have to call shenanigans on your claim.

QH, there are some fundamental flaws to how you are handling this suggestion. I as well as several others have tried to explain them to you, but you just refuse to listen.

You first present an idea that the "?" symbol should be changed. So far so good, but then after you get some positive feedback from a marginal group of people, you go in the wrong direction... you decide to hold a sort of "contest" for the design, gather the handful of designs from the handful of people who read this subforum and agree with your suggestion, then present them as the only options in your poll.

The fundamental flaws in this being:

#1: Your first priority should be getting your suggestion approved, then it would be up to the site management to hold contests or do whatever they want to acquire the new design for the NR symbol. The way you went about it, you only attracted the designs of a marginal group: out of the people who visit the suggestions forum, the people who agree with your suggestion - and out of these people, only those who can/have the talent/will bother to design a new icon to replace the old one, and out of THESE people only those who have the positive attitude to participate even though they have no guarantees this suggestion will ever go anywhere.

So as you can see, you are by your own actions limiting the amount of alternate designs, when in fact you should just try to gather support for your suggestion, and if it gets approved, then there would no doubt be a larger amount of people coming up with new designs for the icons. Do you really believe the limit of the artistic talent on this board is the group of people who submitted designs in this thread? Compare the amount of designs in this thread to the amount of contestants for the many artistic contests held recently by team CC. It's not the about leagues or ballparks - we're talking about a different game....

Moving on to #2: You refuse to acknowledge any opposition or criticism to your suggestion OR the ways you handle this suggestion. Can't you see you're only hurting your cause by this? Sometimes it doesn't pay to fight the windmills. If the Suggestion mods ask you to do something, you should listen, and not try to fight them - if I want a map approved in the foundry, I don't walk around antagonizing the foundry mods...

#3: When you had unwisely chosen only the designs of a small group to be your final suggestion, you have limited the support for your suggestion to only those who like some of those designs. Now there could be people who would not be opposed to your basic suggestion of changing the icon, but don't like any of the options you are presenting to it, so they refrain from voting any of them, so you lose potential support for your suggestion.

Also, as has been told to you many times, you should have just put an unbiased YES/NO poll from the very beginning: this would have shown if people actually want this suggestion or not, and we would all have been saved from lots of drama.
