4 months left in the year, a few clans are certainly poised to jump up spots with the CCup. The G1-BPB challenge may be bigger than most think based on this. League plays a big part of the result obviously.

Lol, you mean like Mythology destroyed the Brethren, yet they're #5 and you're 20? That list looks absolutely ridiculous, no way THOTA is #11. Project Firestorm, a dead clan that did nothing, is #9? This makes the Power Rankings all the more attractive as a way to seed events that require matchups, like the Conqueror's Cup. Sorry jp, but this one looks awful.

The quick table above is 2010 only. Myth beat BFM last year.....

THOTA is 3-0 but their competition have not faced great competition, and their league result was ok.

Project Firestorm should have their reliability factor adjusted, you get this type of result when you only have 1 data point. Most people will mentally remove them anyway.

I've been messing around with the timelines.

I'm thinking of reducing the 2 year RPI to 18 months which looks like this....

The more and more Chuuuuck does his polls for 2010 the more and more it tends to reflect more accuracy or what many feel are the top clans, and just the opposite is happening with your ladders JP, the more and more you use them and tweak them, the further and further they are away from reality.

Again, this is why I am considering counting all the clan challenges 40 games or more (not just last 18 months) and coupling it with chuuuuck's clan leaders votes of polls. the top 2010 clans will perhaps be a product of both in this thread, it has some stat value and players experienced opinion polls merged to result a final outcome. A computer system with human beings perspective to reflect more accuracy. Your ladder only shows why a human element is needed more and more and this is why many of us have supported Chuuuuck's idea over this entire year of 2010.


I respect your efforts in exhausting your many hours into this JP, but, to me, it is very challenged to use a ladder only when your outcomes of this year seem off the mark by many experienced veterans. I would tend to favor and lean on the CC players and experts who play in a ton of clan challenges to have some valuable merit.

Honestly, I'd rather have a leap frog, but I don't think clans would adhere to what is needed to make it work.

I don't think jpcloet's clan rank is inaccurate at all. Seems about right to me, judging on recent results and the decay factor.

The problem with perception and voting and all that some people don't get it. The whole point of voting is how strong you think that clan is, correct? So why do people say "oh well this clan is unproven so I can't vote them higher." The whole point of perception is that you don't need the proof. So either stop skewing the voting or stop complaining about statistics.

It neither makes me happy or sad. It makes me sad to see great potential clans like Proj Fire continue to fail. 2010 has not been a great year for THOTA but is still solid. Did you not see the 18 month one?

Actually, I think it's not really fair to just look at 2010 results. This obviously worked out well numerically for KORT (ahem), because we played and beat #s 3 and 8? according to the seeding rankings for the cup - numbers which turned out to be relatively similar to the power rankings. THOTA's participation in the cup meant that as the #1 seed, they were required to play #s 16 and then Legion (I don't remember their number).

So using KORT and THOTA as examples here, KORT was ranked lower and successfully battled stronger opposition (according to the ranking numbers), and THOTA was ranked number 1, and played lesser opposition (again, according to the numbers). So KORT obviously got a huge bump here as we did well in the league were successful in our more difficult matches.

I suppose this is a problem in general with using the CC Cup matches as challenge results (high ranked clans are required to use their challenge capacity to play much lower ranked clans, and even winning these matches won't yield impressive ladder results), though it never really occurred to me before now.
