How fast is your internet connection

I used to bang my head against the wall (and sometimes I still do) with strange and bizzare internet connections. Finally I found this site that does a basic ping/download and upload test. Sure they push their shit, but the basic test is free. I've tried it at work, at home, and best of all, it give you this neat graphic.

So, I've shown mine ... let's see yours.

Less than a year; the Optimum Online cable modem is the problem. (Not just the modem, I think I am on a very crowded segment of the lan that the modem connects to.) I get better results at work with a real internet connection. You're using a university connection so they have good lines to the internet.

That's true, I didn't even think of that. My home is in Westchester County and I have Optimum Online with a similarly aged computer there, so that makes me a little disappointed.

I'm actually interested in seeing the internet connections of typical freestyle speed game players. They must have insanely good internet connection but I'm curious to know how high it can get.

University of Michigan apparently has really good Internet service. And jleon if I ever got it, I'd consider getting it for you.

Actually, I think you need to check the ping test to really check the connections necessary for real speed games; the data throughput isn't all that excessive but the ping speed (the time for a packet to get to your computer and back) is critical.

So what are you guys (the ones with crazy fast internet) getting for actual download speeds (say torrents)? I'm on a 10MBit connection at home, and I was astounded the other day to see something downloading at just above 1.5 Mb/s. That's almost double the previous fastest torrent I had ever seen.
