Ok, first off, I know literally nothing about this guy. But from what I read in the article, he does sound like a real creep.spurgistan wrote:I wonder if he revived his stereotype pimp character. Maybe he went full racist and went with blackface this time around.
I take it to be a question of origins. Blackface came about with minstrel shows. Minstrel shows were racist. Whiteface didn't come from an inherently racist genre. Ergo, whiteface is less racist (I wouldn't say always not racist. Let's see how many times I can say racist in a pithy forum post! Also, Glenn Beck) than inherently racist blackface.tkr4lf wrote:Ok, first off, I know literally nothing about this guy. But, the pupose of this post is to address the whole, racist-black face thing. Why is it that when Dave Chappelle puts on white face and acts like a sterotypical white guy that it is just comedy, but if a white guy dresses up in black face and acts like a sterotypical black guy, then he is a racist? And don't get me wrong here, I absolutely love Dave and the Chappelle Show. But I have seen this before with a comedian who is white, uses black face, and does sterotypical black voices for comedic effect. People called him a racist. I just don't understand the logic here. It seems like a bit of a double standard. Any thoughts?
And sorry to get off topic, I just thought that this was a valid question.

Also, if you remember Bamboozled, black people can get in trouble for using blackface too. Even if they're probably using it ironically. That actually wasn't a bad movie, I thought. Just playing with fire.
Also, I need Chappelle, again.
Point of order: T'was not greed that ended the show. Chappelle was offered retarded money to continue doing Chappelle's Show, and declined.tkr4lf wrote:Also, I need Chappelle, again, too. God I wish he would come back for more shows. Too bad he had to be greedy.
He's not a racist. Simmons just can't handle the fact that he busted his corrupt left wing organization. He's also not a misogynist as he was actually trying to prove that CNN is selling sex. I think this project was obviously not planned well though since the cat came out of the bag. And I just browsed the article, but I wouldn't have advised the project in the first place. He is looking a little nutty at this point. Also all of the networks sell sex in all facets of their programs (Sometimes I'm hearing football highlights read of by chicks that barely know that there are 4 downs in the game of football). I have no idea what he really thought he could accomplish there.tkr4lf wrote:Ok, first off, I know literally nothing about this guy. Are you talking about me, or is there someone named Simmons in this story somewhere? If you are talking about me, what the hell are you going on about? What is "my left wing organization", and who exactly has "busted" it (or was that me?), and for what?ViperOverLord wrote:Simmons just can't handle the fact that he busted his corrupt left wing organization.
Ah, I was under the impression that he demanded more money and didn't get it, so didn't want to continue the show. Thanks for correcting me.Timminz wrote:Point of order: T'was not greed that ended the show. I don't want to say "stupid," but speaking as a reformed comedian I can tell you that he's not funny.Army of GOD wrote:And then we got Carlos Mencia, who is a gay fish.
