Since we have a Christmas break coming up after the start of the next round, how about I set up a bunch of 4 or 6 player games on various maps with different settings. Players from all teams can join with 1 player per team, per game. The winner could earn some extra points for the team and maybe I can even throw in a General Achievement Medal for the player that earns the most points for his team (for example).
Remember that for the tournament team wins count and NOT points, they come in play only if teams have the same amount of wins.
Just thought that may be a bit of added fun during the break.
Well, it's neat that you think of something like this but then what's the point of a Xmas break from TLO if everyone's going to be playing in these additional games? May as well just continue with the tourney or take a proper break.
I'm never keen on rule changes halfway through a tourney, and if these games add points to a team's score then it could affect the overall outcome if two teams are tied. At that point I'll probably complain and say "It wasn't fair because you put our player in a much tougher 6 player game than the other team's guy". Also it's very unfair on the team that's leading, as every other team will want to knock them out immediately (if they have any sense).
Just thinking ahead, that's all.
p.s. I agree with Pedro. But if you're hell bent on making a load of new games, why not simply create a new tourney separate from this one?
Highest position #5 (18 Nov 2010) General 4,380pts (11 Dec 2010)
gordito (The Legionnaires) &Shatners Bassoon(TOFUkingood)
some more interesting facts
Some numbers: 36 valid games were played, by 62 different players. Of those, 6 were disqualified for joining too many games and 35 players managed to win 1 or more Christmas Trees.
Two players won 7 Christmas Trees:
gordito (The Legionnaires)
Shatners Bassoon (TOFUkingood)
Another 6 players won 5 Christmas Trees:
Iron Maid (2FU)
Lindax (Rangers of the North)
lordhaha (Double Dragoons)
SirSebstar (Oranje Appels)
uckuki (The Gentlemen Bastards)
uptothemax (Oranje Appels)
Since we have a Christmas break for those who won't be very active during the holidays I thought it may be nice to organize a little tournament on the side for those TLO participants whom still would like to play a few fun games.
It will have no impact on the TLO Tournament itself and will be a totally different format:
I will set up 5 player Terminator games on 10 standard maps. Half the games will be sunny, the other half will be with Fog of War.
Every TLO participant is allowed to join 2 of each, which is 4 games total.
IMPORTANT: You are NOT allowed to join a game with a team mate.
You get 1 Christmas Tree for every kill, regardless of who wins the game.
The player with the most Christmas Trees on January 10, at 04:00 hours GMT (my birth date and time) will be the winner.
That winner will be awarded a General Achievement Medal! Settings
5 Player
Terminator
Automatic
Sequential
Escalating
Chained
Half Sunny/Half Foggy
Casual (24 hour)
I will send all TLO Participants the password for the games in a few days.
No need to sign-up, simply join the games you like (maximum 2 sunny and 2 foggy per player).
I will start with 20 games in total (10 sunny and 10 foggy), if needed I will make more games.
[EDIT] Just made another 20 games.
Important Notes (please read):
Any player who joins more than 4 games will be taken out of the competition.
Games with more than 1 player from the same team, or games with a player (or players) who do not participate in the TLO 2010 Tournament, will not count.
If you have any questions, please send me a PM. And remember: It's supposed to be fun!
I tend to agree with CoF - it sounds fun but final places could be decided by this, so there is an in-built advantage to teams/players who want to take on lots of games. I for one was looking forward to a break.
/edit: sorry missed your post Lx! Points-free games is great & a generous offer from a busy tourney host!

Well, adding points was definitely changing the rules. But as you're no longer going to do that then I say "Go with it" if you'd like to set up some friendly inter-team games. I won't be around though for quite a few days at Xmas, but I'll join any that my break doesn't interfere with. Cheers.

Same here, trying to slim down my current games so i have to check little if at all for a while around the holidays.

No objections to some fun, but I'm more likely to enjoy the lowered game load... of course, if I wash out of my own TPA tournament (looking likely), that will do wonders for my game load right there.

I think as CoF in his first sentense. I think that is is only to get further in tournament or take a break.
But if it is only fun games with no speacial meaning it is ok by me.
