i have never played a game against Sethman585. i have never chatted or pm'd with Sethman585. and i have no idea why he is coming into my games throwing about homophobic slurs about me for absolutely no reason. the fact that i have never played him and he is not in any of the games in which he made his bigoted comments, is truly disturbing. i hope this can be dealt with swiftly and Sethman585 can learn that CC does not tolerate bigotry and/or racism within it's forums or games. otherwise, i fear he may do this to others, and who is to say he is even done posting in my games as of now?

While I would tend to agree with you on this, it seems to me that the key is that this is someone with whom owenshooter has had absolutely no contact. So they're going into a game of his that they are not involved in and making these statements about him. To me, that adds a significant level to the problem.

Definitely out of line - not being part of a game and posting these types of comments must surely break the gamechat abuse/flaming rules, regardless of whether you consider it bigotry or not. That would make it at least worthy of a warning in my opinion

On a side note: Unc D you should familiarize yourself with the facts before spewing your witisms.

Some complaints are worth while to argue against. Like this one. Owen makes "non straight" comments like that and then gets "gay" slung at him and turns around and files a bigotry complaint which is a serious infraction. Which quite frankly this does not deserve to be a violation of. Fortunately for CC my personality disorder does not interfere with all the free time I have on my hands and I am able to argue and spin complaints towards truth.

Someone in that game is a buddy of Sethmans, alerted him to the chat comments and put him up to posting that.

If he had slung the "f" slur then there would be no argument about bigotry and a warning/ban would have been in order and demanded but that isn't what transpired.

This complaint should be NOTED but nothing else.

I really don't think gay is the same as n*gg** as an insult, at least not in English, but it might be different in American.

Over here, you call anyone of colour a N*gg**, and you would expect a smack in the face, or a full blown fight at the best. Gay is completely different. (again in English) If we take Gay to mean someones sexual persuasion, then does this mean you now consider straight to also be an insult?

Being gay is not an insult at all, that does not change the fact that the way folks in the U.S. use the term, such as was used here, is an insult.

Just because I think being homosexual is perfectly fine and won't use the term gay in this way, doesn't change the fact that plenty of folks use it as an insult.

Also, whatever owen did has nothing to do with the complaint. He didn't goad the person who posted the gay remarks, because the person who posted them wasn't even in the game. They just showed up and started posting bigoted shit.

So, hammer that person. That shouldn't be tolerated. I'm not sure why folks keep bringing up owen's comments in the chat beforehand. Were they stupid? Sure. Were they bigoted? No. So, why do they matter?

Also, my reasoning for the 'n' word and 'gay' as an insult being equal is because in America there is a lot of debate going on about homosexuals presently and while it is not on the level of the intolerance toward African Americans in the 1960s as far as abuse, it is there on the level of intolerance. The homosexual issue in America is very present and at the forefront and is the great movement of our time, but I digress.
