there was also something by steve gougan that had a paul and pauline calf in that was funny.

ripping yarns was hilarious but i that wasn't a sitcom i suppose.

Kinda surprising that more people don't think so.

Because I think ultimately it was as much drama as sitcom. Not that that's a bad thing.

I disagree. The drama was almost always undercut by comedy. And on aggregate there was much more comedy than drama.

Its possible, that maybe most of the posters here are young, and maybe it doesn't age well. Growing up in the 80's makes it easier to identiy with the issues and struggles of that time.

I dunno, but I definitely think it was a sitcom, and definitely not the only sitcom that had drama, and pathos, but the best sitcom with dealing with those things and making it relatable.

I'd argue that Auf Wiedersehen Pet better fits your category. A sitcom driven equally by comedy and drama.

only ever really seen "are you being served" and another one about a chef and his wife...but I cant remember the name of it... are you being served had some funny episodes.
