Next week I will be running a TPA tournament and for that occasion
you get to chose between my 2 ideas.
Poll will be on for 2 days so vote ASAP!
Thanks for your time!
Both are:
Escalating,Fog,Chained,8 man,Standard,Sequential,Automatic
Escalating Fog: Classic Combinations
MAP
Classic
SETUP
10 groups of 10 players
8 man combinations
45 games per group 36 games per player all played at once
group winner goes to finals
SETUP
8 groups of 8 players
every round is played on one of the maps until somebody wins it 3 times
when you win a map 3 times you claim it
player that claims the most maps goes to finals where we repeat the process
I went for the second option also, it would be an overkill to give so high game load to TPA players who already probably have more games active than they would normally without TPA.
"Thou shalt accept thy dice rolls as the will of the Gods" (Church of Gaming) "amazzony is a beast" (Woodruff)
option 2 for the same reason I guess, but in option 2 isn't it going to take forever? Playing max 2 games at a time for a total of like 100 games? depending on how many maps are used
We're talking like a 2 year long tournament, would cause lots of problems for the TPA

I will make adjustments but the general idea will be the same
Assuming 8 maps in a group, yields 15-136 games per group to get a finalist.
(15 = 3 straight wins by a single player on each of 5 maps... enough to ensure them a majority)
(136= every map going to maximum (7 players with 2 wins, 8th with 3=17*8), all maps run to determine a winner.)
I'd expect it to take ~75 games to decide a group, under average circumstances. With map specialists or one player significantly outranking the group, it might drop to 50 to clear a group.
It's going to take a while.

why do you all cry its too long
or its too much!!
Better that you put up the poll and had comments than to post your tournament and have no one show up.
As far as the TPA goes, I'm pretty sure bart made it clear that the tournaments need to end on or near the end of May so that it doesn't take months to wrap up the final scores. As for game load, with new TPA tournaments every week, it makes it very hard for regular participants to suddenly add 36 games to their load.

you will see that I chilled out
and was grateful for feedback.

some of my pm-s,
at least now and then
