Assassin Shuffle Game Type

Post by rathmaskalion »

Concise description:
  • New Game Type: Shuffle assassination targets at designated points in the game.
Specifics/Details:
  • During Game Set-up, creator has the option to choose game type: Assassin Shuffle
  • Option for game type: number of rounds before shuffling
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Provide a new game type that can combine aspects of assassin and normal game play.
  • Keep people from smashing their heads on their keyboards repeatedly when they have a massive turtle for their target
  • Fun

I don't like this idea, but for example you are working at an assassin for a couple rounds then they have one spot left and it switches.

These games would be completely luck-based. Doesn't sound fun at all.

I feel that both of your arguments could have very likely come up when the original assassin game was proposed... The point of starting a new game type is to incorporate a new type of strategy.

'Completely luck-based' - Much of this game is (as is the nature of any dice game). Additionally, with the current assassin games, you could run into someone who is a top-level player as your target while someone else has a complete noob as their target... I'd say that's a bit of luck in itself...

'You could have one spot left and then it switches' - again, this just calls for a different type of strategy...

I agree with rathmaskalion. If you know that your target will be switching after, say, 10 rounds, then you will simply need to adopt a new strategy in anticipation of this (ie. don't take your target down to 1 territory on round 9!)

It also introduces the element of surprise, which is lacking in assassin games once it becomes clear who is trying to wipe out who.

Not really, this would be extremely luck based. With a normal assassin game, everyone has an equal chance (Unless you play with someone who doesn't know it's Assassin). In yours, there really is no strategy.

Again, not really. There is still a ton of strategy used to become a better player. There is a reason why there are players that remain cooks, and players who remain Majors.

How? Hope and pray you get the guy who is weakest and try to strike? To me that's REALLY luck based :-s Not strategy.

Also, you try to go for the kill, and leave just 1 tert, and the game changes target. BAM, someone has a super easy kill. How is that strategy/skill? It's all luck.

the strategy would be much like escalating - knowing when to strike

Exactly... This wouldn't be a 'random round change targets' thing...it would be a set time to change your target (say every 10 rounds) If you don't want to leave a target with 1 territory when the change happens, don't attack on round 10 unless you're sure you can win. If anything, I'd say that the strategy in a game like this is even greater...

What are we all waiting for?

This would have less skill and strategy involved in it than nuclear spoils does. And I wouldn't have thought that was possible, before reading this.

Just because you can't see a strategy involved in the game play doesn't mean that there isn't one... As was mentioned earlier, this would be more like an escalating spoils game in strategy than anything else. Please keep your posts constructive instead of demeaning. If you don't like the idea, just say so and don't start throwing out insults, as I see you do in many posts...

Chill out man...they can't all be good ideas. Having everyone's target change to another random person removes all strategy from the game. The only strategy is to kill your target before the "switch" round, in which case you might as well play normal assassin. You keep comparing this to escalating spoils, yet you haven't explained how this is like escalating spoils. I personally see nothing in common between the two.

How it is like escalating spoils is in the nature of the strategy, not the nature of the game...basically just knowing when would be a good time would be to attack.

As for the 'only' strategy you mentioned, I beg to differ... You could attempt to kill your target quickly before the first switch, or you could build up to the point where you have a large enough stack to effectively assure victory.

I am chill...however demeaning and patronizing posts do nothing to further any conversation.

In this particular case, it really does.

Sometimes, there's no way to be constructive about an idea. This would be one of them.

Duly noted that you are not in favor of this game play. Now please refrain from posting on this topic if you do not have any further input on the matter.

I attempted to have further input on the matter, but you ignored my question. Why is that?
