Makes sense, glad I didn't spam others boxes. That wasn't my intent at all.Woodruff wrote:Oh, I think I know why IcePack THINKS he saw someone quoting him. If so, then there is something wrong with that button, because I made an explicit point of it. And my outbox shows that it only went to one individual. Darn...that removes the irony I was referring to. <sigh>IcePack wrote:People keep replying all. I replied to specific sender asking why there kept feeling the need to reply all, but apparently it got sent to everyone as well. I'm not sure why, I clicked reply to sender not the "and all receipients" button.
Very Annoying.

IcePack, when anyone responds to a multi-user PM, you will see "the thread of PMs" that relate to that PM. So what happened was that the individual PM you sent to one user was still present in "that thread of PMs". So you didn't accidentally spam, and nobody else saw your message...but it put it into that thread for your own relevance in keeping track of things. If you haven't deleted it yet, go back and look, and you'll see what I mean. I was confused by the exact same thing at first.

That's what should have happened. ChapCrap knew he made a mistake not sending it BCC.lordhaha wrote:Why not just make all pm's BCC ? Problem solved!! Remove the option.

No I mean that if anyone sends a pm anytime it should only be able to send BCC no other optionIcePack wrote:That's what should have happened. ChapCrap knew he made a mistake not sending it BCC.lordhaha wrote:Why not just make all pm's BCC ? Problem solved!! Remove the option.
The others replied to all which shouldn't have happened either.

what if it's between 3 clan leaders who want to be able to send it back to both people?lordhaha wrote:No I mean that if anyone sends a pm anytime it should only be able to send BCC no other optionIcePack wrote:That's what should have happened. I have sent out invitational PMs to some users for my tournaments (primarily freemiums, as they have in my view a motivated interest in my premium prizes). I do, however, use the BCC function as it is intended. Should I presume that I can no longer do this?Night Strike wrote:I've sent a PM to HA to BCC everyone on that list and tell them that if they continue to do this now or in the future, their tournament will immediately be canceled and disciplinary warning and forum vacations will be handed out to anyone who sends a mass message like those.

No, I believe lordhaha is correct...when BCC is used, the reply-all doesn't catch them. That's because they're listed as a "blind carbon-copy"...in other words, they don't exist for the purpose of "who's getting the PM".jrh_cardinal wrote:then everyone still gets the 20 PMs, they just can't see who all you sent it tolordhaha wrote:Why not just make all pm's BCC ? No, that's fine. What's not fine is for people to just jump onto other people's lists and use them for their own tournaments. It's also not fine to send it without the BCC.Woodruff wrote:I have sent out invitational PMs to some users for my tournaments (primarily freemiums, as they have in my view a motivated interest in my premium prizes). I did send a message to my entry list as NS requested. This spam for a tourney could have come from my non BCC mistake the other day or could easily come from my entry list which is posted on the tourney thread. It is just a shame when someone makes a mistake that people have to reply to sender and all recipients. All that does is create more and more reply to sender and all recipients rather than just letting the sender know not to pm him/her.Night Strike wrote:I've sent a PM to HA to BCC everyone on that list and tell them that if they continue to do this now or in the future, their tournament will immediately be canceled and disciplinary warning and forum vacations will be handed out to anyone who sends a mass message like those.

This also applies to any member who replies to everyone telling them not to spam.
This message is going out to all in my tourney. I apologize for the honest mistake I made when sending out the original message. I apologize for all the spam from all the childish people that must continue to hit reply to all senders when they can just send the message to one person. Please read the entire quote from Night Strike. I truly hope that this behavior can stop now and if not--you deserve a vacation from forums and tourneys in my opinion.
