Sonic's Hoe-Down
intro
I'm looking for 80 CCers, who will be divided into Quads teams by random.org for each round.
Rounds 1-3
The first 3 rounds will overlap; so freemiums will need 3 slots immediately, but this will reduce to a single slot as the tournament progresses
Each player gets 3 lives at the start of the tourney (so this is triple elimination). For each game where you are on the losing dance-quad, you lose one life. Once the first 3 rounds have been played out, all those with two left feet who have lost 3 lives will move to the side of the metaphorical dancehall and will take no further part.
It is likely that approximately 10 players will exit after round 3.
Rounds 4-6
You cannot sit out two consecutive rounds. e.g. All players who sat out Round 4 will automatically go to top of the draw for Round 5, while only those who played in Round 4 are randomised. EDIT - Once a player has sat out for a round, he cannot sit out again at all (unless we reach a point where everyone has sat out one game)
This will continue until the end of Round 6, by which time there will probably be 30 or so competitors left on the floor.
Rounds 7 onwards
Again, no player will sit out two consecutive rounds. EDIT - once a player has sat out for a round, he cannot sit out again at all (unless we reach a point where everyone has sat out one game)
This will continue until there are fewer than 4 players with any lives remaining.
3-way (1v1v1) matches or 1v1 matches will then be used until only one player has any lives remaining. That player will be the hoe-down champion.
Settings
Settings are: Quads, Automatic, Sequential, Escalating, Chained, Sunny.
Escalating spoils should help avoid long games; even if the random map is Hive it normally finishes in 10 rounds. However, if any game goes beyond Round 20 without a winner, no players in that game will lose a life.
