Which map is the prettiest?

No, seriously. Don't think about gameplay or strategy; which map is the most attractive, has the best graphics, is the one you'd be most likely to use as a screensaver?

I like Age of Merchants. I like how DiM got the map to look aged and I love the little icons identifying Resource Pairs. It's so old-timely and quaint. And there's a little top hat, which is adorable.

The First Nations maps are quite eye pleasing. Its pretty cool they got the supersize approval to connect them.

And since we're talking pretty, how about the least? Prohibition Chicago and USApocalypse are eyesores.

I like Prohibition Chicago. It looks like a comic book to me.

For me the "prettiest" is a toss-up between France 1789, Midgaard and Treasures of the Galapagos. I also like New World; it's very clean and well done.

British Isles for me...kinda simple, I know. But, the colors are easy on the eyes, not too complicated on the brain, and it's nicely layed out.

There are lots of pretty maps. It's impossible to name just one map as the best.

Anyway... pretty much everything from Kabanellas deserves a mention here. Napoleonic Europe for one is a damn fine looking map.

Cairnswk has made some pretty maps, but most of his maps excel more in gameplay than in graphics... Jamaica is still pretty nice. And Das Schloss.

I like Qwerts maps too, favorite is probably Imperum Romanum.

One that really deserves a mention is Iceland by Rjbeals. There's a pretty map, that doesn't seem to get the credit it deserves these days...

Great Lakes, by Widowmakers/Coleman. The perspective is nice, it makes you feel like you're falling from somewhere high when you look at the map...

Of course, Germany by Widowmakers.

Fractured America by isaiah40 is also nice.

Oh and Chicago by Scott Land.

There are lots of other maps that I like, but this post is long enough already...

I didn't even know the First Nations maps were Tisha's creation.

Yeah those two are very nice indeed. I also like Balkans.

Apparently Tisha has a nice sense of the aesthetic, her maps and the pictures of babes she post are very pretty.

I hope she never reads this because she has a very big ego.

All Kabs maps are nice on the eyes, besides clandemonium which was pretty basic stuff i thought...

Rjbeals / mibi & WM always made good looking maps as well... I think now with the Big size maps, map makers will be able to add more detail, can't wait to see what some of these guys will do.

No offence to Cairns, he's a genius, but that map is brutally ugly

A peice of art I admire is Canada, even though I never play it.
others i find (as others have put it) "pleasing to the eyes" are Iceland & Japan (already mentioned), Balkan Peninsula, USA New England, Nordic Countries... List could go on for a long time though. It would be much easier to state which maps are ugly. there are some shockers out there, haha. No need to be cruel though

Artistically, I like the design of Stalingrad. It isn't pretty, but it has some cool design features that give it a 3D look.

Also, WWII Poland is finely done. Very appealing map.

Ha, I can't not think about gameplay or strategy. If I have a bad record on a map, it makes me hate it.

As far as the screensaver goes, though, I'd want a badass looking map, and I'd have to go with 8 Thoughts.
