What is your favorite world city? [Poll]

We'd like to see more maps correspond with the World Cities/Classic map for a variety of reasons, tournaments being one, and there will be a contest in the near future featuring gameplay designs and a graphics contest. The best way to start things off would be a little discussion on which World City is most deserving of a map.

Obviously, we already have a number of cities on the World Cities/Classic map: New York, Chicago, Montreal, Vancouver, Berlin, Hong Kong and Sydney. Some of these cities are historical, like Berlin and other have untapped history. Would you want two Berlin maps? Some maps have various historical periods... do you want Mexico City at the heyday of the Aztecs or do you want the modern incarnation?

So it's all up or discussion. Let's hear what you guys have in mind.

Well, obviously Copenhagen need consideration. Has had at least as much impact on world history as.. uhm, Vancouver ;-)

In any case I think the new map should definitely be of a new city (as opposed to a 2nd Berlin map, regardless of time in history).

I'm a little confused about the image - is it just for inspiration for cities, or does it hold some special place in the contest(s)?

London and Dubai come in mind as places that could become interesting maps.

London for obvious reasons, I think... Dubai, well, because of it's unique geography - all those funny islands...

Bangkok, Istanbul, Tokyo and Beijing would be neat as historical maps.

Something we could do with supersize maps, btw... multiple cities on one map. Airports to connect them... We could have 6 supersize maps, one for each continent, each featuring 4 cities...

Well... the key word there was correspond. The contest will be for a map of a city that is one of the ones on the World Cities/Classic map.

Moscow deserves a map as historical, fought over and influential to world events as it has been.
This post was made by jefjef who should be on your ignore list.

Jerusalem, Venice, and Alsace-Lorrain (okay, that was a bad one... it's not a city)

I also think some sort of Constantinople map would be cool (either at the height of its power or in 1453)

And yeah, Tenochtitlan (Aztec Capital) would be great as well.

Less modern geography; more history!

I would have to vote for Dubai or Moscow (it there was a poll, anyway). Dubai has its own importance, and as jefjef previously mentioned, Moscow is an extremely important place historically.

Dubai! hmpf.
I still say Copenhagen, but I guess I'll just get all miffed and make it myself!

If I can't have it any other way, Moscow should be good I think, and I've considered Constantinople myself. I was thinking about one of the sieges under the crusades. :)

Maybe something could fit in with the current Third Crusade map... I believe the christian kingdoms took a detour to Constantinople and raided it in that crusade.

Detroit. Gritty, historically important (in the 1900's, as motor city, and producing tanks during WWII) and it's just awesome.

London, Dubai, Moscow, and Istanbul would be my picks. Also Reykjavik, but that's mainly cuz I know a guy from there and it always seemed like a neat city.
