Don't worry about coding at this point. Worry about getting a decent gameplay plan done.

Look... you've posted a lot of map threads in a short time. I don't know if you have some misunderstandings about the process, but seems like I should explain a bit about how CC mapmaking works, just in case.

On CC, unlike some other sites (crappy ones...) we don't just take any map that whoever posts in play. But we also don't restrict who gets to make a map - anyone gets to make one, or try at least. However, it requires development, and lots of work to get a map done.

The system on CC is not one where you post your map on the forum, then it either gets immediately accepted to play or rejected... that's not what is going on here.

Instead, you post your map, you'll get feedback on it, and then you'll keep working on your map, improving it, according to the feedback you get... your map will go through all of the 4 different forums, each of which focuses on different things - idea/concept, gameplay, graphics, and lastly final forge where the XML code and final tweaks are made. Finally, you get your map in beta-testing.

So, making even one map is lots of hard work and it's not something that can be done in a day. Most first timers spend 6-12 months on their first map, depending on previous graphical experience. So if you really want to make a map, you need to commit to the project. I don't want to discourage you, I just want to make sure you know how the process works around here, so you'll know what it takes.

Now... as for this map... why not. Pennsylvania could be made into a map. However, your draft looks like you just took a ready map image or scanned it from somewhere, then tacked on bonus values... ok, that's a start, but it'd be good to see something you've drawn by yourself.

What graphics software are you using? If you use GIMP, I can direct you to some easy-to-understand tutorials on how to make a map.

When asking for help, it's customary to be a little more specific. Otherwise you're apt to get your laces tied when you need your cuffs buttoned.

I'd suggest you to read this --> http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 3&t=105182 to have an idea about how to post your draft, manage your thread, etc etc.
Also this post could be useful --> http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 3&t=126964

Currently it seems you have an idea about a map more than a draft, so I'm going to move this one into ideas subforum.

About the map, you should try to add some impassables, your continents are really hard to defend as they are now. Who plays a map where the easier bonus is a "5 territories to defend"? Remember that the map must be FUNNY to play, not frustrating.
Again, you should work a bit to make the map more interesting, now it is just a flat scanned image. Draw the borders, fill with some colors, add some texture, add names, search about the location on google, find some good pics to add for the background or the like...
But more then everything else try to have a clear plan. What do you want to represent? How do you want to represent it? Which particularities make your project worth a map? How to represent these peculiarities on the map?

Yeah, now just add territory names, borders, impassables and legend, and it's a draft.

It helps to post in your thread when you've made updates... otherwise people won't know about it.

This tutorial will tell you how to create graphics: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 6&t=140723

Better. :)
Can you also add to your first post all the important informations about your map? Number of territories, etc Did you look at the link i posted in my previous post?

Now, looking at the map i see some strange things:

- What is the logic used to label continents? what pink, yellow, etc are? Usually with geographic maps people use districts, provinces etc...but what are those zones on your map?
game log wrote:thenobodies80 received 5 troops for holding pink
- Bonus values also need some changes imo. For example, take the teal and the pink continents, they are similar....why pink is +5 and teal +7?
Again take brown now. 5 territories with a single border to defend +7? :-s
To me light brown is maybe a +5, teal and pink +4, brown could be a +2 or a +3 and yellow +1...but as said i don't think your current division is the best possible layout for this map.

Looking forward your next update
Remember to update the first post with the required informations, in this way i can move this back to the drafting room. O:)
