Managing the mafia archives

Post by strike wolf »

Me and fircoal were discussing this and we decided it to bring it out for a public vote. What we were going to ask is how the mafia community feels we should handle the transfer of complete mafia games into the archives. Should the transfer happen as soon as the mafia game has finished and role pms have been released by the mod or should their be a waiting period before moving it into the archives (1 day?)? I'll put in a poll and I'll try to extend it if need be.

I'd say 24 hours without a post means it's ready to be archived.

Yeah, I'd say 24 hours to at least let the players see the game and make comments. Further discussions can continue after the move, but immediately moving it to archives might make people miss the thread. I didn't notice Post Apoc went to the archives right away and I definitely wanted to comment on that.

Post-game discussion is always great and if we archive games too early I think that the chance at post-game discussion is limited. I think once the game starts to slip to the bottom of the mafia games page then archiving would be necessary. We can always leave a shadow topic for a further 48 hours.

Wow, from my one measly vote on 48 hours to a full six. Hurrah for those who think the post-game is fruitful. Of the three ended games I have been in, two had 24 post-games and one had a full four days of postgame discussion so not every game will need the 48 hours, but it's nice. Especially since those who aren't IN the game might like to stop in and check who won.

I think a 48-72 hour shadow topic would suffice. Idk, I'm kind of a forum neat freak.
