Biggest Clan War upsets?

Post by angola »

I was having a discussion with another clan person tonight and neither of us could answer the following question: What is the biggest upset in Clan War history?

I've been in a clan for a decent bit of time, but haven't paid enough attention until recently to have any idea.

I would assume KORT beating THOTA is considered an upset, just because THOTA had never lost, but then again KORT is a top 3 clan, so is that really that much of an upset?

Just curious to see what our history buffs can tell us.

Here are some upsets.....

TFFS over ID - Cupset in the making

AFOS (Former Skyforce) over Myth ... Though I would not call that an upset

O&H(Now Foed) over LoW - This likely takes the top spot. It surely pissed low off and fired them up to win the league after that.

TSM who was new at the time over LoW - Now this will not look like an upset but at the time it was.

Empire over ID - This was a coming out party for Empire. ID was really strong then.

BPB over DB .. After a dismal Season 2 bpb seems to back to form and gonna win in a route.

Nemesis vs THOTA (Yeah I know Nemesis did not win, but they sure as hell gave THOTA a big scare.)

G1 vs KORT 1st time - 15-15 draw says it all.

I think I got them all. I did not mention KORT over THOTA since you already had.

Was it the Devil's Brigade?

And yeah, sentimentally O&H vs LOW was my favorite. Partly because I was in it.

I love it when the underdog wins! (Unless of course I happen to be the one in the war against the underdog.) :P It was good to see KORT beat THOTA coz every clan needs to lose one once in a while to keep them humble. It was also kind of fun to see TSM beat TOFU because in my mind I considered TMS the underdog, because of their recent player losses. Angola, if you guys beat KORT that'll be another upset that will be huge! No pressure.

Yes he is talking about Devil's Brigade, we are losing to the Bandits in CC2. I don't think I would call it an upset since they are ranked higher than us. (I'm upset about the result but that's beside the point). The final score is going to be around 23-18, so it is not like they destroyed us. I think we are capable of beating them, but they outplayed us this time.

Bruce, you mean a dismal S3 too.. Bandits came 2nd place in the S2, that positioning and knocking out TSM in the group stages was considered an upset to many.

The Bandits also went into the finals that season after beating IA in the semis.

yeah, nagerous was a genius at the helm of that ship... he pulled some moves that just confounded the opponents... the teams he constructed and threw at them along with map choices really had us scratching our heads, but you never second guess the Great White Hope...-the black jesus

Please do. We actually lost the final, in the majority of the earlier rounds they only took a couple or 1 game.

you are absolutely, 100 percent wrong... that was all me... and hey, if it wasn't so effective, the rules wouldn't have been changed to NEGATE rag & miki in the CLA... you can deny it all you want, but they forced a rule change, because our advantage was so huge... when you can't beat the bandits, just change the rules on them... worked for the admins, why not the CLA?!!-the black jesus

Bruce nailed the key ones, anytime a mid-level clan does well against a perceived elite clan, that's when people notice. TFFS is a small clan, but they have lots of tournament experience together.

I'm more curious to watch who the next perceived "massive upset is". Will it be the 1v1 Tournament or the CCup2 or ???

I think the 1v1 has most of the top seeds in the semi's so not that likely for upsets, tho the gap deferential for the G1-ID game could be classified upset-worthy.
The cup has quite a few intriguing match-ups coming up, but I'm not sure if any of them could really be an upset. I do think tho that if any of the top 8 lose in this second round that it will be upset-worthy.

I'm interested to see what the out come of the NC will be, since the winner should definitely jump into the mid-rank level I'd think.

Btw, none of the members of O&H felt like the win over LOW was an upset. Just sayin. :D

Dan has a point. :P I don't recall if I played much of a roll against LOW, but we definitely figured that we'd emerge victorious. :P We had some sort of rough and tumble outlaw chemistry. :P

I think you joined as the FOED gang was walking out the door, actually. That was our last hurrah before it all went tits up against G1 and Legion. :D
