Scum A slips up in the thread and says something that could build a strong case against him. Scum B happens to see it first and PMs Scum A telling him to edit the post and take it out. Scum A removes it before town sees.

I'd rather have to EBWOP instead of getting the benefit of editting in some clarity.

The same could be said of town. If I'm a doctor, say, obviously I don't want to reveal that to the mafia unless it's absolutely necessary. If my post accidentally lets that slip, I have just as much motivation to go back and edit it so that I don't become an NK target on the next night.
