Yes, but their budgets are being cut left and right.mpjh wrote:Most good movies are made from good books. So to the source, and if you have no money, it is free at the library.
I currently "only" have 263 movies in my DVD queue, and 311 in my instant queue. Player, if your kids are at least 3 (which I'm pretty sure they are) the streaming is AMAZING for them. Tons of Nick Jr shows, all of Sesame Street's run, IMAX movies, documentaries, a ton of HIT movies/shows (Thomas, Barney, Kipper, etc), plus when they are older, tons of the Disney shows (Hannah Montana, Good Luck Charlie, etc). $8/mo for that is a way better deal than cable. The TV shows they have on their are well worth it as well... Entire runs of classic sitcoms (Cheers, The Cosby Show) and dramas (Farscape, Macgyver, Doctor Who).Woodruff wrote:I'll have to disagree with you. I currently have 487 movies in my queue...these are all movies that I specifically want to watch and have never seen previously. Now, I go the home-DVD route rather than streaming, but the variety on Netflix is HUGE, in my opinion.PLAYER57832 wrote:I looked into Netflix, but for all their hype about a huge selection, they had very little beyond the most current and populat movies. I will look into it more. I don't think our connection really supports streaming, but I might be wrong. Also, our cable/internet/phone are bundled. I only pay $20 more for cable, including the extra channel my husband "requires".jakewilliams wrote:I currently "only" have 263 movies in my DVD queue, and 311 in my instant queue. LOL.. speaking to someone well on her way to reading everything in the local library. And.. we can even get movies there!mpjh wrote:Most good movies are made from good books. So to the source, and if you have no money, it is free at the library.

Right here...this. PLAYER, you should get your kids to watching MacGyver ASAP. It truly IS 'your kind of show' (if you didn't already know of it). You almost couldn't find a better television show for them to watch, I don't think. It's my wife's all-time favorite show (she's in love with Richard Freaking Dean Anderson). But I liked it fairly well too, when his gadgets weren't TOO mind-numbingly unrealistic.jakewilliams wrote: I currently "only" have 263 movies in my DVD queue, and 311 in my instant queue. LOL.. actually, I used to watch it as a kid. Also, when we had retro TV, they loved it. (along with the "A Team".. which I found rather humerous)Woodruff wrote:Right here...this. My family can only watch so-called "art" movies; we love Netflix. Trust me, the selection is fine.PLAYER57832 wrote:I will look into it more. My kids occasionaly watch nick and Disney, but its mostly the outdoor channel (for hunting shows), or PBS. My husband likes cooking shows plus those new ones like "swamp logger" and "swamp people", "Sons of guns", etc. I don't believe most of those are on the net.
I like very little any longer.. would mostly like some things in a language that is not very popular here, to keep my skills up.
But what I did not see was some of the less popular "art" movies and such. Maybe we had only a limited listing, but I went to the main website.
As a kid? Now you're just trying to piss me off, aren't you? <laughing>PLAYER57832 wrote:LOL.. actually, I used to watch it as a kid.Woodruff wrote: Right here...this. If you're telling me you mixed up Knight Rider (boo) and MacGyver (yay!), then we're not friends anymore.PLAYER57832 wrote:Teenager/young adult... (better?Woodruff wrote:As a kid? [actually, I think I was mixing it up with the one with Kip and the fully automated car.. but I was not truly a kid when I watched that, either]

I now realize I have probably never seen MacGyver. I was never a big fan of Knight Rider (my brother enjoyed it), but it tickled me that my son would like the same show that his uncle enjoyed at roughly the same age.spurgistan wrote:If you're telling me you mixed up Knight Rider (boo) and MacGyver (yay!), then we're not friends anymore.PLAYER57832 wrote:Teenager/young adult... Also, not tryin' to be a young whippersnapper or nothing, but new TV wipes the floor with old TV. Just sayin'.
No downloading required. The online content is all streamed.PLAYER57832 wrote:Anyway... looks like I might need to give Netflix another try. I understand you can use a Wii to download?
Do I have to have an active cable subscription or Wi-fi/internet connection? Or is the Wii enough? (is that self-contained).Timminz wrote:No downloading required. Netflix on the Wii will only work with an internet connection. The only advantage is that you get to watch on your TV.PLAYER57832 wrote:Do I have to have an active cable subscription or Wi-fi/internet connection? Or is the Wii enough? OK, thanks. We don't have wi-fi here, so I guess I will just have to wait.InkL0sed wrote:Netflix on the Wii will only work with an internet connection. The Wii doesn't have an available wired connection? I thought it did for some reason (not that I have a Wii... can't afford it).PLAYER57832 wrote:OK, thanks. It has built in wireless; you have to buy a special port to hook up a wired connection.thegreekdog wrote:The Wii doesn't have an available wired connection? I thought it did for some reason (not that I have a Wii... can't afford it).
