And if you are clever enough in Excel, you would simply add the tags there to basically automate it.

Adding my support...something like this is definitely needed since you can't import excel tables. It would be most useful in the foundry among other places. :)

I totally agree.

I've had some limited success with converting Excel tables to jpgs and uploading them to tournaments that way, but I've also had complaints from tournament players that the resolution is poor. I think being able to build tables directly on-site would be a huge help.

As far as I know, it isn't progressing. However, with the experience that Team CC has acquired in the course of updating the wall (to handle BBCodes and display avatars, and so on), we may now have a better chance of doing something constructive here.

I submitted two different solutions (almost a year ago IIRC) and to date neither of them has been implemented.

The reason why is because they aren't as functional as we would like them to be. They add unnecessary space at the beginning of any post with a table.

And it gets worse as you add more lines to your table, with the code blakebowling has submitted so far.

That looks really nice! Hopefully they have resolved the oddities of spacing with regard to tables that we were having.

It's hard to tell from that example. What we had previously was extra blank lines after the table due to newlines with the
construct. (It's fairly natural to want to type a newline after, say, [/tr], the end of row marker.) There is no leading or trailing text in the example to see how that looks, and no example of the BBCodes used.

I hope that "Cell three Row three" is just a typo in the content, and not a bug in the table handling.

No I typed that in. I'll get a screen shot of the coding later.

Here are the screen shots:
1) Click on insert table and this comes up:

2) You fill in how you want the table to look like and click on Insert into Message and you get this:

3) type in what you want in each cell:

4) Click on Submit and the final product:

There are no spaces between the top of the table and the top of the post. You will also notice that there is the normal space between the bottom of the table and the regular formatted text.

Oh, that is gorgeous. The ability to add attributes like text alignment and border styles is something I hadn't even dreamed of. We must have this.

The table support is nice, but it has a lot of other features that looks like it'd get in the way. While investigating it, did you see if we could disable some functions?
