ummmm. i think the scorecard leaders' score should be 2, a -2 on a par 4 is 2. and so on down the card. thats how they do it on tv. not that it matters much.

i can't argue with you how they do it on tv because i don't watch it. but i've seen it playing golf done in the way that i have it.

the -2 means they are 2 under par. at the end of 18 holes, everyone has 72 + whatever is in their individual score box.

so if after 18 a player has -5, then it's [ 72 + (-5)=67 ] so 67 would be their final score, or 5 under par

so they would beat a player that has let's say +8 as their final score after 18 holes.

[ 72 + 8 = 80 ]80 being their final score, or 8 over par

80 > 67
lowest score is better

hope this clears things up. please let me know if there is any concern. i want things to be clear before we get to the end.

basically sundance is saying that on a par 4 and he elminates all players if his score is -2 then on the scorecard interface you have brought up williams it would be listed as a 2.

Par 4 using only 2 shots = -2 score.

Basically the only thing that should be a + or a - is in the farthest column based on the shots each hole of the score card which is your + or - in relation.

The math doesnt change. Sun is bringing up the formatting at which you are showing everyones scores. Doesnt really matter tbh its just a technicallity.

It will make more sense after the second hole. Right now it looks like the scores on the first hole are determining the standings instead of the farthest column at the right.

the leaders group have 2's the farthest column is listed at -2. the second group have 3's and the farthest is -1...its a redundancy thing.

i still don't understand. and i looked all over the web, ( ok not really but i did spend about 10 minutes looking for something on it. )
for an example that ya'll are talking about. i understand that the scores will be the same, i just don't get the format that ya'll are trying to explain. if someone wants to send me an example or just post it in the forum i'll change it. it would be nice for this to be "authentic"

well, i'm going to try and keep this the way i have it now. i suppose that everyone can understand it fine. especially once we get a few holes in.

personally, i just think the way i have it is easier. but it's probably because that's always how i've marked my scorecard when i play. had i been exposed to the "right" way to do it. i'm sure i'd like that better.

ok people, all groups have now finished hole #2. so shortly i'll be sending out the hole #3 games. also i've updated the scoreboard.

one thing i realized is i did not take into account maps with victory conditions. route66 has one. so in order to fix this, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finisher will be determined by adding the territory count to the army count. the highest number will get the bid. if there is a tie then your original group order will decide the tiebreaker.

and also, i've sent a pm to dagdam0r, but received no response, and it also looks as though he has been offline since july 30. i do not expect to see him back. i will send out an invite, but if he does not join in the 24 hour slot or pm me. i will replace him with a reserve.

the first one to post in this forum will be the replacement. if you see someone has posted, you can still post as a reserve. if someone else drops out then i'll use that same order to fill spots.

thanks jj, you're in. you will replace dagdam0r. since he deadbeated last game he's not so hot on the scorecard, but there's plenty of golf left to make your comeback. when all of these holes finish and i tally the score to update the scorecard, i'll replace his name with yours. good luck.

the last game has ended. i was considering getting the next hole ready tonite, but have decided against it. i have a class tommorrow nite so i wont get to it until tuesday evening. and then i'll just send the games. i'll update the scoreboard next weekend.

i'll update the scoreboard this weekend. eventually i'll need to reformat that. it's getting to where the further the tourney goes, the longer it takes me to edit it. i'll figure something out. maybe by hole 6.

also, we had a game go on in hole 4 that is dragging a bit. right now it looks like it's starting to move, but i wanted to get the tourney going again. but in the future, i'll end the game one week after the sixth game ends. up until hole 16. after that, we'll just have to wait for it to finish. i don't want to end a game that may have cost someone the tourney right at the end.

so good luck folks, and thanks again for staying with this. it's going to take a bit to finish, but so far it's pretty interesting how the scoring goes. i think in the future i'm going to stick with 16 players, and maybe just 9 holes. i'll have to see how it goes. i'm just afraid that there are going to be some meaningless games played. but the last hole is a par 5 meaning that there is still a chance to grab a GA medal.
