I don't understand.

Look, he was skimming quite evidently because he didn't evn look at the front page. The fact that it's written there just makes it worse that he dioidn't bother reading. Does that make sense?

After much deliberation the town forcefully drag the protesting Puff from his home and hang him. They are surprised when he is still struggling almost an hour after his execution until puff points out that he has been a Zombie for the past few years. The people (who hadn’t noticed any change in the lawyer) chopped him up and threw him in the river Ankh instead. This seemed to work better.
Puff-Mr Slant (townie) has been lynched!
