This tourney offers a team twist on the Battle of the Bands theme.
It will be a bracket-style Singles tournament with 8 "concerts" (teams) of 3 bands each (it's my first tourney, so I'm starting small).
FREEMIUMS WELCOME. Two games per round, but they can be played one at a time if necessary, so keep a spot or two open for this tourney at all times and you're good to go.
Interested players, please provide:
- Your band (must be an actual band/musician/singer/you get the idea) - One player per band, please!!
- Your "home" map (MUST relate to your band in some way) - MAPS CAN REPEAT - NO LIMITED EDITION MAPS, PLEASE!!! I cannot guarantee that they will be available for the entirety of the tournament.
- How your map relates to your band. VERY IMPORTANT. For example, since I'm choosing the band Rush, I will choose Canada because Rush is a Canadian band. However, I could also choose Ancient Greece because some of their lyrics are inspired by Greek mythology, or I could choose 8 Thoughts because they have been called a "cerebral" band, etc.
- Your settings (no speed, no freestyle, no round limits - other than that, go to town)
- OPTIONAL: Band's best album/song(s) (in your opinion or in general) - I will be adding at least one song from every artist represented in this tourney to my personal iTunes collection, and would greatly appreciate any recommendations you might have.
For an example of what info to provide, see my entry below.
Players will be ranked by CC score and grouped randomly (if you want to play with (a) certain player(s), let me know).
Each concert will have one player from the top 8, one from the middle 8, and one from the bottom 8.
Concerts will be seeded by total score.
In each round, each concert will play one other concert.
Scoring Example:
Spoiler
Concert 2: D (2500), E (1400), F (1300)
As the highest-ranked bands in their concerts, A and D will play two 1v1 games, one on A's map, the other on D's
As the middle-ranked bands in their concerts, B and E will play two 1v1 games, one on B's map, the other on E's
As the lowest-ranked bands in their concerts, C and F will play two 1v1 games, one on C's map, the other on F's
The winner of each 1v1 game "sells" a number (equal to their opponent's CC score) of tickets for their concert.
The concert with the most tickets "sold" will advance to the next round.
Let us say that, in this example:
A and D each win 1 of their games - A sells 2500 tickets to Concert 1, D sells 2000 tickets to Concert 2 (because A's CC score is 2000 and D's is 2500)
B beats E twice - B sells 2 * 1400 (E's score) = 2800 tickets to Concert 1, E sells 0 tickets to Concert 2
F beats C twice - F sells 2 * 1200 (C's score) = 2400 tickets to Concert 2, C sells 0 tickets to Concert 1
In total, Concert 1 sells (2500 + 2(1400) + 0) = 2500 + 2800 = 5300 tickets
Concert 2 sells (2000 + 0 + 2(1200)) = 2000 +2400 = 4400 tickets.
5300 > 4400, so Concert 1 advances to the next round and Concert 2 is eliminated.
Tiebreaker (if needed): 1 triples game (if CC team approve - if not, singles - A vs. D), random map, sequential, manual, flat rate, unlimited, sunny
If you have ANY questions about the above, PLEASE do not hesitate to ask me, either here, via wall post, or via PM.
Sign up, be creative, enjoy, and good luck to all!
